TOKYO (AP) -- Japanese are welcoming President Barack Obama's decision to visit the atomic-bombed city of Hiroshima, and those interviewed Wednesday said they aren't seeking an apology.

Even those who want one realize that such a demand would have ruled out a U.S. presidential visit.

The Big Zero should scold them for the atrocities committed by Japan during WWII. Unspeakable atrocities.

I would lay odds that he will apologize..

I have no doubt he will, and the American media will once again fawn all over him and declare his great Statesmanship.

And do it right there at ground zero in hiroshima.

“Let this be a lesson for America’s enemies today”

Hopefully I will never hear a millennial complain about Hiroshima. Half of these mushy head liberals wouldn’t even be here if we hadn’t bombed Japan.

For years after WWII our government still had hundreds of thousands of hospital beds in storage. If it was necessary to invade Japan to end the war we would have had hundreds of thousands of our soldiers dead or wounded.

said they aren't seeking an apology

Obama's response was that they were getting an apology whether they wanted it or not, saying, "That’s what I do".

It was only 3 weeks ago that I found out that Japan had a nuke program during WW2 and actually tested their own device (about 1/5 the size of our 1st) in February 1945. I wasn’t actually surprised that they had a nuke program; I was surprised that they were 5 months ahead of us.
We were lucky that they used up all their materials in their test and couldn’t immediately make a second device to use against us.

Good point.

I heard a couple years ago, liberal snarky comedian Jon Stewart say we should not have bombed Hiroshima. He said we should have dropped the bomb offshore to demonstrate its power, then tell the Japanese if they don’t surrender, the next one will be dropped on them.

To a lesser extent, we hear liberals of today bitch about the bombing of Dresden, the firebombings of Tokyo, and the bombing of Hamburg, as somehow being war crimes committed by the Allies during World War II. But these same liberals never mention that the Axis powers started World War II, and they are silent about atrocities committed by the Axis.

They should want an apology for Obama visiting.

The Jap Nuke program was centered in Korea. The Russians stole everything after the war.

Sorta, kinda.... depending on how much you trust “history” and wikipedia.

We cut off their access to oil and rubber.

Which is quite true, but totally lacking context.

I’ve seen quite the liberal bitching HERE about Dresden.

You do NOT win a war until you break the enemy’s will to fight.

In a war, you break the enemy’s will to fight by killing people and breaking things. LOTS of people and things.

Does anyone doubt that Japan or Germany would not have used the a-bomb against us if they got it first?

Yup.

Entire American universities' full complements of perfessers, staff and students think they wouldn't have!

The military had so many extra purple hearts made for the anticipated invasion they didn’t have to reorder until after the Vietnam War. I think the first reorder after World War II was in 1975 and they still had many of the older ones when they reordered.

There was one at Oshkosh a few years ago.

Put in a VIP seat over the bomb bay doors and test at maximum altitude.

Of course they’re happy. They’re not sorry for the war. Only that it turned to their “disadvantage”.
