The siege, after the fall of Sedan, the surrender of Napoleon III, and just before the Paris Commune, c. 1870-1871.

I was thinking pretty much the same thing.

If there were any intellectual elite among the really low-class revolutionaries among the Chavismo. There really would be a chance of a suicidal commune, a Shining Path, coming to power before "the opposition" had a chance to consolidate a new government. With the Cubans on the scene, this is likely to get very nasty before it gets better.

It is almost impossible for me to imagine being in such a position.
