Former GOP lawyer: Military acted properly on Benghazi

The U.S. military acted properly on the night of the deadly 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya, according to leaked testimony from a retired, three-star Army general who served as chief lawyer for Republicans on the House committee investigating the attacks.

Retired Army Lt. Gen. Dana Chipman “repeatedly commended the military’s actions on the night of the attacks during closed interviews with Defense Department officials,” including a Jan. 8 interview with former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, Democrats on the committee say. […]

The Democrats’ letter quotes Chipman as telling Panetta: “I think you ordered exactly the right forces to move out and to head toward a position where they could reinforce what was occurring in Benghazi or Tripoli or elsewhere in the region. And, sir, I don’t disagree with the actions you took, the recommendations you made and the decisions you directed.” …

Gee...I wonder which political party “leaked” this.

Besides, pretty much nobody is blaming the military itself. The Commander in Chief and the Sec. of State are the ones who dropped the ball and went to bed.

So an Army lawyer knows more about what could have been done than one of the Air Force pilots in Italy.

What a crock of shirt.

Yeah, when I want tactical, operational or strategic advice, I ask a lawyer.

You know, a guy who was trained to argue, not fight.

You see?

The GOP was in on Benghazi, too.

We’ve seen the photos of McCain getting the full “Rebel” welcome in Syria, sure.

Ole Johnny boy didn’t know about the rat-line to Syria of Khaddafi’s weapons?

Sure he did..! Linda, too.

That’s why Trey’s theatrics never really went anywhere.

This particular cluster-f*ck is deeeeply BIpartisan, I’m afraid.

I say LET IT ALL COME OUT.

If it takes out 30 Republicans?

FANTASTIC..!!!

JAG officers have gotten waaay too big for their britches over the years..... we have them over-controlling combat operations when lives are on the line, and now this one thinks he is competent to judge what should or should not have been done in Benghazi. We may as well just ask Lindsey Graham, former JAG officer...... ugh.

Gosh.

I remember what my bosses and teachers told me about the military.

“The Commander is responsible for everything his unit does, or fails to do.”

Obama was our Commander In Chief at Benghazi.

Obama was responsible for everything that was done, or not done, by the US at Benghazi.

You want the Big Boy job, then you take the Big Boy responsibilities with it.

And Obama is a Democrat.

I am sure the military did the best they could under whatever rules they were required to follow.

Is this farce still going on? Anybody with an IQ above warm milk knows that Gowdy is never going to produce anything but a whitewash. Two years of “investigations” and a very macho-sounding “I don’t give a damn whose careers are ruined” and nothing but talk, talk, talk.

And the establishment wonders why the American people are so pissed off.

.....after graduating from West Point, Chipman was assigned a platoon leader position in 1980. In 1983 he started law school and got his juris degree in 1986.

Somewhere between 1980 and 1983 he received a Bronze Star. I have spent 20 minutes looking for the details about it but can’ find it.

If anybody knows anything, please advise.

Remember when we were young and niave and thought that Issa and now Gowdy would hold this treasonous regime accountable?

I do. And I will do you one better. I was dumb enough to believe that if I voted for Bush that he would prosecute the members of the Clinton Crime Cartel. Boy did I get an education.
