Venezuela's opposition has urged the public to defy a state of emergency that President Nicolas Maduro decreed over a nation sapped by food shortages and a collapsing economy.
Key points:
Opposition-controlled parliament rejects the President's state of emergency decree The opposition leader asks army: are you "with the constitution or with Maduro" Polls show 70 per cent of the population wants a new government The opposition-controlled National Assembly rejected the decree in a vote, saying it "deepens the severe disruption of constitutional and democratic order that Venezuela is suffering through".

How's that hope and changey thing working out? Socialism s only endorsed by those with a mental disorder and disconnect from reality. The gubmint must love all those phone distracting apps that the Sheeple love. They probably give the mobile phone companies incentives to develop them. Wouldnt surprise me one bit.

Maduro is far too stupid to flee before the pot boils over. I hope he gets to experience the revolution up close and personal.

14 subway stations were closed in Caracas this morning to prevent demonstrators from using them.
The opposition has called for people to come out onto the streets and protest today.

it hinges on the military....... do they want the blame for the disaster? More to the point: do they want to get fed? Do the shortages affect them AND their non-military relatives?

The military is heavily politicized and full of Cuban advisers. I don’t think they are at the point of abandoning Maduro.

When the military runs out of food, their commie loyalties will undergo a change.

I remember fifty five years when they found a cache of new rifles in Venezuela, made in Canada for the Cuban Castro government. The Cuban coat of arms had been ground off, but stress chemicals brought them back out.
Now Cuba has Venezuela, for what it is worth now.

Since the military is controlling access to food supplies and running some distribution programs, I am sure that they get their cut first.
