It might give the Dems some ammunition, but they're never going to vote for him anyway. He's got to show the #NeverTrumpers that he's a serious candidate with actual solutions that they pretty much agree with. It would also have the effect of putting Hillary and Bernie on the defensive, and forcing their hands to reveal what their plans are. If they don't, he'll make mincemeat out of them. It would completely change the conduct of the campaign in an earth-shattering way that they're not prepared to handle.
