David Koch Pledges Millions To Gary Johnson’s Presidential Bid

Billionaire businessman and philanthropist David Koch has pledged “tens of millions of dollars” to help bankroll the campaign of Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson, according to a source within Johnson’s campaign.

Koch’s money will be made available should Johnson, a former two-term Republican governor of New Mexico, secure his second consecutive Libertarian Party presidential nomination, the source said.

The Libertarians will select their presidential ticket during the party’s national convention later this month in Orlando.

This place is a one track mind...

Anybody not supporting Trump is against him...

Here’s a thought...

When Sanders gets the nomination stolen from him, a libertarian could pick up a lot of his support...as a protest vote...

In the end that helps Trump beat Hillary...

Less votes for Hillary...

“I wish the Koch brothers would spend that money building conservative institution. Imagine Hillsdale College receiving a nine figure donation from the Koch’s or taking over some of the struggling private colleges and turning them into conservative alternatives to Harvard.”

I agree 100%. The Koch brothers waste their money. They do help conservative causes or America.

All money in our political system is money down the toilet.

...

I respectfully disagree. Buying a politician is one of the best investments a person can make in our corrupt system.

In this case, though, donating to a Libertarian as always is a waste.

That’s money down the toilet

Koch isn't interested in Johnson winning. It's about Trump losing that this money is supposed to ensure.

I think it’s like articles months ago said.

Many of these overly rich folks just like to gamble.

Johnson didn't get 1% of the vote in 2112, and he's an open borders fool.

This will help Trump, not hurt him.

What? He's not? Crud. There goes my vote.

On a more serious note, I welcome a stronger voice for libertarians in our elections. Perhaps some day, we could have a presidential election where there is a discussion of exactly what is, and is not actually contained in the Constitution. It sure as heck won't come up this election season otherwise.

ROFL! Right, because Gary Johnson's last run for President in the Libertarian Party was such a wild success!

Considering the political landscape of 2012, how much the GOP base was falling for the Party's "we promise", and how third parties are hindered by the current system, that he managed to get just shy of 1% of the general vote was a pretty good showing.

If he or Ron Paul had been the GOP nominee it's highly likely (IMO) that the Republican party would have won the presidency… heck, in hindsight, it seems like the reason they chose/pushed Romney was precisely because he was the only candidate that could lose to Obama.

If Gary Johnson is representative of libertarians, then libertarians have no business holding office. Johnson is an abortionist, sodomite- lover, an open-borders pedagogue, and blames America for Muslim violence.

Thankfully, the von Mises/Murray Rothbard/Hayek/Lew Rockwell strands of libertarianism are beneficial to our discourse. It’s a shame that the Libertarian Party has always been such a trash heap.

Disenchanted Bernie voters would go for a Libertarian before a Republican, I’d think. Libertarians who vote Republican would be bled off from Trump, though. Sounds like close to a wash, to me.

Bernie voters won’t be voting for a candidate bankrolled by the “Koch Brothers”. Not in a million years.
