Benghazi chairman: Dems get to review, offer edits to report
The Hill ^ | June 6, 2016 | Julian Hattem

Democrats on the House Select Committee on Benghazi will be able to review and offer edits to the committee’s closely watched report this month, despite their repeated opposition to the panel’s work, according to Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.).

Gowdy on Sunday issued a blistering, 1,800-word attack on Democrats’ efforts to undermine the panel’s work through “abject obstruction” and “serial” leaks to the media.

But the panel’s five members will nonetheless have access to the report before it is made final, Gowdy wrote in a letter to top Democrat Elijah Cummings (Md.).

“Despite your efforts to undermine and obstruct our fact-centered work, rest assured all members of the committee will have the opportunity to review the report and offer changes in a manner consistent with the rules of the House,” Gowdy promised. “Then, after the committee completes its work, the American people will be able to read the report, the supporting evidence and transcripts, and judge for themselves the value and fairness of our investigation.”

Still, the South Carolina Republican made clear that he is disdainful of the Democrats’ behavior on the committee over the last two years.

Democrats “have spent far more time writing letters, selectively leaking material, and spreading mischaracterizations than you have actually participating in this investigation,” he wrote.

Last week, Cummings and the four other committee Democrats formally requested that Gowdy offer them a chance to review the committee’s final report about the 2012 terror attacks in the Libyan city of Benghazi, which is due out later this month. The committee should issue a “joint report” with both Democratic and Republican findings, the Democrats offered, or else at least let them offer “corrections, additional context or other input” before its public release.

It will first need to be reviewed by the Ministry of Truth.

Cummings should be in jail for colluding with the IRS to target the Tea Party.

The Dems can offer ‘corrections’? Is the report fact or not? What ‘corrections’ are made to FACTS? From where I sit, the Dems can offer ‘corrections’ but they will not be implemented if they are not FACTUAL. I sure HOPE Gowdy won’t make CHANGES that subvert TRUTH.

It’s time to stop wasting money and time on the Benghazi issue. Hitlary and Odumbo were both guilty of what happened and both need to be indicted. This “inquiry” has dragged on far too long. Get ‘er done!

“offer amendments”

If Gowdy has the courage to reject them, there remains hope for truth.

Just get to the part where there was to be a trade for a kidnapped ambassador for a POS Terrorist doing time in a NY Prison. I still say there is a Morsi/Clinton/Obama deal there, and the only thing that would convince me would be a multiple polygraph exam of Clinton and Obama. I’m sure it would never be consented to by either one of them. If there was nothing there they wouldn’t be so anxious to end it. Had it been Bush they would keep it going ad nauseum. I can see Sisi opening the can of worms once Obama and Hillary are gone.

Congress and did nothing. .... except lie to the People.

This is the statement that must be added to the House Benghazi report:

(EXCERPT) On September 15, in a telephone call with then-Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr, then-Secy Clinton emphatically portrayed the “stupid, very offensive film” as the root cause of the Benghazi violence.

Clinton told Amr, “I have repeatedly, as has the President, and other officials in our government, deplored not only the content of this stupid, very offensive film… But we have to exercise more self-discipline… otherwise we’ll be in a vicious downward circle against everyone who has ever felt offended, particularly on the internet….”

After referring to Benghazi, Secy Clinton’s telephone call with then-Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr also contained a curious reference to what the former secretary referred to as a “very successful investment visit led by my deputy Tom Nides, and, on the very day they left, this series of incidents began to unfold.”

NOTE: According to the Washington Post, Nides, (1) was deputy secretary for management and resources at the State Department, and, (2) at the same time, Nides was responsible for “communications with donors” for the Clinton Foundation.

Nides was also involved in the earlier scandal involving Secy Clinton’s efforts to provide special access to State Department officials for hedge fund clients of Chelsea's husband, her son-in-law, Marc Mezvinsky.

One more sell out by the GOP and it’s minions in the Congress.

"He is also a Rubio supporter."

That shows you how much he knows and cares about our Constitution.

Rubio was born in Miami four years before his parents were naturalized, he is an anchor baby, not a Natural Born Citizen.

I would think it appropriate to have input from the loyal opposition, even that ignorant dunce Cummings. In cursive, if possible.
But it should be an addendum to the repost, rather than allow them to bastardize and confuse the organization and logical flow of the report...
