My 50 year old cousin has always told me that America has been in decline well before Obama. It started: January 20, 1989 when Bush/Quayle took office. He told me that they were the worst Reagan heirs to take over in ‘89. He refused to watch the inauguration. Heck, he wrote in Paul Laxalt and former Illinois Gov. James Thompson’s name in the ‘88 election. I don’t think he’s voted since ‘88 in presidential elections. Sad. He voted for Rudy Giuliani in 1989 for NYC mayor in Queens and hasn’t voted since.

I agree with your cousin. I listened to Bush 1’s first and final inauguration speech with some guarded optimism. Halfway through I new we had been sold down the river. I did not expect the servitude to have lasted more than a quarter century.
