Maybe youre correct, but in your scenario, while we were waiting for a new party to coalesce, the Democrats would unimpeded single party rule at all levels of government. You're saying that like that's not already the case.
Remember what the Republicans have done over the last decade?
- Remember how hard they fought to keep fiscally responsible policies and actually have a balanced budget?
- Remember how they stood against the overreach of the Patriot Act?
- Remember how they stood against the NDAA that, conceivably, authorized drone-strikes on US Citizens?
- Remember how hard they fought Fast & Furious and to bring those perpetrators to justice?
- Remember how hard they fought to find the truth behind Benghazi and bring those perpetrators to justice?
- Remember how hard they fought against the IRS's political targeting?
- Remember how hard they fought against the NSA's domestic espionage?
- Remember how hard they fought against the Iran deal?
I remember a whole lot of
nothing for the answer to
those questions.
I also remember just before the 2014 elections the Republican leadership was boasting about how it was going to push amnesty through.
Are you really sure that Donald Trump stands for any of those eight positions? Novelty aside, he’s shown little in the way of consistent conservatism in his entire life.
I think the novelty of his brash political incorrectness holds little sway with huge swaths of the GOP.
