Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D., Ill.) has paid his wife and daughters hundreds of thousands of dollars from his campaign’s coffer since 2010, according to campaign finance data.

Gutierrez, who was first elected to Congress in 1993, brought his wife, Soraida Gutierrez, onto his campaign’s payroll six years ago to act as his office manager, treasurer, and fundraiser.

Soraida Gutierrez was a registered lobbyist in the state of Illinois from 2003 to 2009 before joining Gutierrez for Congress. She has since raked in more than $300,000 for her work on behalf of the committee while being the top recipient of campaign cash in three cycles since stepping into her role.

Members of Congress have been allowed to place family on their campaign payrolls since 2001, when the Federal Election Commission issued an opinion at the request of former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D.,Ill).

Jackson went on to pay his wife’s firm hundreds of thousands of dollars from his own campaign committee. He and his wife pleaded guilty in 2013 to using $750,000 in campaign funds for personal use.

What a great resume enhancer for a RAT!!!

If one needs a reminder look at what is happening under the wussified GOPee leadership in the US House and compare it with the iron fisted leadership of Piglosi who turned the lights out on the GOP because they wanted to vote on energy bills back in 2008.

I hate the GOPee more than I hate the RAT party.

Keep this in mind, as the meme that Trump is paying his own companies with campaign cash grows.

He’s paying for real services - like use of an airplane (with mostly money he loaned the campaign btw?), while most politicians just put family and cronies on the payroll in do nothing jobs.

That’s the way bribery is done now. A supposedly “independent” non-profit organization is created. A relative of the politician is made an “employee” and paid an outrageously large salary from the contributions. The same thing was done for Chelsea at the Clinton Foundation. She makes $800,000 a year for a job you could easily get someone to do for 50 or 60 thousand. (If she even does any work at all)

It's okay because the rest of the article explains how the payments were all legal.

I was not surprised to see his party affiliation mentioned early.
Hell, here in 2016, it really doesn’t matter.
Republican, Democrat, Same old same old.
They are all for concentrating the money and power to Washington D C. Probably the most corrupt city on the face of the earth. BAR none.
They make the rules, then throw in a loophole to either exempt themselves or as a smokescreen to hide behind.
Every damn one of them can just F**k Right Off.

If Mrs Gutierrez received $300k per year, that would be outrageous, the article makes it seem like $300k over the last five years, which would be $60k per year.

As detestable as he is, if it is the latter figure, you would have dig in and see if this was a “no show” job to demonstrate corruption.

Government office drones easily make $60k in Chicago. If she showed up and stuffed envelopes, or even just surfed the internet, you’d be hard pressed to damage Gutierrez on that alone.

This guy is an idiot. A measly 300 grand, this guy is clueless. He needs to talk with Hillary, her schemes start the bidding at $300 million, he is way behind the power curve.
