OUR FIRST PHILOSOPHICAL ARTICLE
ON VIRTUES OF MEN

The western way of thought, whether contemplating god, philosophy, mathematics or science, has evolved over many centuries with traceable roots originating as far back as ancient Greece. For all its failings, ancient Rome was heavily influenced by Greek thought. Enlightened wise men from even earlier cultures as far back as historical study can determine existed and thought about the things we still think and struggle with today.

From antiquity on, the Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Indian, Chinese, and other civilizations all pondered the same issues but perhaps from different angles. We wish that those wise men could meet today and see how we have done (actually have not done).

Let us be very clear about this:

Virtuous men have existed throughout all times and have come from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Virtuous men have only been able to influence society to a limited degree that humanity actually needs due to individual counter efforts of nation-states and/or persons of power and influence who seek to stifle their efforts at every turn. In some virtuous philosophy has been so twisted by evil that these enlightened men would have burned their writings before publishing them.

We of SPEAR OF ATHENA think these seven key virtues are needed most today in our leadership:

Honour
Courage
Truthfulness
Strength
Wisdom
Tolerance
Decisiveness

The lack of leaders who possess even a few of these key virtues is quite apparent. Political correctness is NOT a virtue. It should be an ethical crime. Political correctness has allowed politicians to openly distort truth and the very meanings of words to an extent where the people do not even realize it is happening. We are not so naive to suggest that you place your head in a serpent’s mouth as extreme Liberals (or enemies) would propagandize you to do in order to meet their agenda. We say that all politics must occur in a forum of open respect.

Many “ordinary” people around the world clamor for a “western” kind of life irrespective of their cultural background. We do not mean that “non-European” cultural norms should be abandoned. We say that our western forefathers who invented democracy recognized that fundamental truths exist. The trouble is figuring out what they are. Most of the nation-states whose cultures do not have a democratic heritage have not been able to implement what we would term “successful” democratic political systems. After all, how could they be expected to do so when even nation-states who do have a democratic heritage have not been successful either.

What is our point you ask? Our site is based on the premise that our Western way of life needs protection and deserves nurturing. We face escalating unnecessary combativeness among our own fathers. As in our case today, our beloved Goddess Athena presided over Greek city-states who competed endlessly for domination over Greece and areas of Anatolia. Our western world today is a bigger version of that ancient and foolish conflict. We want our leaders to listen to us and understand that they do not have the right to play with the heritage of our forefathers. They do not have the right to play with our lives and world as children. They must also understand that we want results!
