Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst is among the candidates being considered to become Donald Trump's running mate, a source with knowledge of Trump's vice presidential selection process tells CNN. Another source close to the process confirmed the information. It's not clear whether the freshman Republican senator and tea party star has received paperwork from the campaign or is just being scrutinized through the wealth of publicly accessible information about her.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence are also being considered, the source said. A senior Trump campaign adviser confirmed Pence is being formally vetted.

1. cnn?

2. "sources"

3. Took 3 intrepid urinalists to put this together

Well, as much as I don't have a problem with Gingrich, he is much hated for the contract a few years back and I don't think he would add anything to the ticket. Ms. Ernst on the other hand, veteran, "tea party star"(whatever the hell that means) seems smart to me but I don't have enough info. So, who knows. Gotta keep hildabama out like a rabid skunk.

Trump needs someone more experienced in the Washington political scene. Joni is too new...

As I recall: Cute, new to politics, so-so voting record.

Leave her in the senate. Joni is light years better than Bruce Braley, but she is a RINO with Romney ties.

Hasn't she pretty much toed the OBoehner line? I know she campaigned on the theme of castrating pork, but has she?

It seems to me she has stabbed us in the back more than a few times.

I could be wrong. I leave it up to Iowans to set the record straight.

ROFL...PEOPLE....Trump will pick his own V.P.

The media twits, and the others are not going to be picking anything for Trump...people should know that by now, it’s been a year of Trump and he doesn’t do what the R party or anyone else wants...he does what HE wants, get used to it...

What his platform is, is what it’s going to be...no more, no less...

I like the idea he can’t be bought and paid for, and I like the idea that people around him can discuss with him what they think, but bottom line: Trump IS Trump!!!

THe MSM floats VP names hoping that the person will publicly reject the idea of being Trump’s VP.

He has to have a woman on the list. I know of no others but with respect for her career in the military and her election as Governor of Iowa she know zero about Washington, Trump has said repeatedly he will opt for legislative experience. That knocks all the governors out including pense. It pretty well boils down to Newt, doesn’t it?

But it is so much fun watching the establishment try to put a conventional straight jacket on Donald J. Trump! ;-) Alex Jones, Roger Stone, and I think he has already picked Senator Jeff Sessions. This is all political theater.

More Popcorn! Sit back and watch the show! ;-)

I know this will be criticized but the best, and smartest, pick for VP would be...John Kasich.

Years of experience in Congress.
Popular governor of Ohio

A Republican cannot win the presidency without winning OH.

Has she voted or avoided votes more than our current in-experienced (p)resident? Like someone else said, let the Iowans straighten us out.
