...

Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers said in a statement that he considers "Bill Armstrong one of the finest public servants Colorado has ever produced. He was a man of great integrity and great intellect. His priorities of faith, family and country were evident in everything he did. I consider myself blessed to have known him and been inspired by him."

Jon Caldara, president of the Independence Institute, a Denver-based conservative think tank, said .. "It is impossible to understate the impact of Bill Armstrong in Colorado politics.

He nominated my dad to President Reagan as a possible Supreme Court Justice (eventually filled by O’Conner. Dad declined the meeting with the President as he didn’t want us living in DC. Would have been exciting. Senator Armstrong was a great man.

I’m glad your father didn’t want you living in D.C., but I suspect he would, for that very reason, have made a very fine Justice.

He was the best politician CO had in the second half of the 20th century. Gordon Allot was second best.

Thanks, APOS! I was going to be a senior in High School and I was the one trying to talk him into going to the meeting. He’s always reminded me of Reagan himself with his humor and stature - and was a gem. I pray that he had no regrets about it. Wish he were still here to ask and I wish I had the smarts to have reached out to Senator Armstrong about that! Hope you’re well!

We have lost a very good man.
William Armstrong was conservative to the core.
Believed in Term limits and lived up to that belief.
When he left the Senate after two (2) terms, he did something that is so rare, I can only think of one or two other examples. He came home to Colorado.
Damn, just damn.
R I P
William Armstrong
A life well lived.

I too can speak well of this Senator. I voted for him back in the day, and when I wrote to him about an area of concern, he was the only one who responded back. May he rest in peace, and rise to glory in the resurrection!

Got a nice, personalized signed photo from him back in the ‘90s after he left office. If only it had been he rather than the weasel Owens that had run for Governor back then (in ‘94 or ‘98). What a useless RINO Owens turned out to be.

"Where did Owens go wrong again? I don’t recall."

He went squishy on TABOR, which was our last best chance to clear up the infestation of coastal termites.
