Massachusetts’ Republican gov. signs transgender bathroom bill

BOSTON, July 8, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – The Republican governor of Massachusetts, Charlie Baker, has signed a law that would allow members of one biological sex to use the showers, restrooms, and other private facilities of the opposite sex.

The law, which goes into effect on October 1, adds the phrase “gender identity” to state anti-discrimination laws, placing sexual identity on par with immutable characteristics such as race and sex.

It would require “any public accommodation...without limitation” to open formerly sex-segregated facilities to members of the opposite biological sex.

In June, lawmakers overwhelmingly rejected a measure that would have barred sex offenders from entering the opposite sex's showers and private facilities. The current version of the bill allows the state to take action against anyone who exploits the law for “an improper purpose.”

That's not enough, said Andrew Beckwith of the Massachusetts Family Institute. “The definition of gender identity used by the bill, is extremely broad and ripe for abuse. It would even allow a registered sex offender to use the law to gain access to the locker room or showers of the opposite sex. The people of Massachusetts deserve better from their government,” he said. “What is equally disturbing is that, under this new law, parents will face criminal prosecution for trying to protect their children, and business owners could be fined or even jailed just for putting up a sign deemed offensive to transgender activists.”

The state House of Representatives approved the final language of the bill on Thursday, 117-36, while the state Senate backed the bill by voice vote.

The signature makes Massachusetts the 19th state to enact state civil rights or non-discrimination laws that include “gender identity.”

After the signing on Friday, Gov. Baker tweeted:

No one should be discriminated against b/c of their gender identity; this compromise extends add'l protections to our transgender residents.— Charlie Baker (@MassGovernor) July 8, 2016

No one should be discriminated against b/c of their gender identity; this compromise extends add'l protections to our transgender residents.

“Governor Baker has joined the growing list of fair-minded Republicans who are standing up for equality,” said Chad Griffin, the president of the Human Rights Campaign, an LGBT activist group. He also thanked a series of Democrats by name, including U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, Rep. Joe Kennedy III, and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh.

But the bill's opponents said the bil harms the vast majority of state residents. “This bill would take away the rights for more than 99 percent of the population – the basic right to privacy in bathrooms and locker rooms,” said state Rep. Marc Lombardo, a Republican.

Beckwith added on Friday afternoon that he was “extremely disappointed that Gov. Baker has broken his original campaign promise to veto this bill.” Baker, a supporter of abortion-on-demand, “gave in to a radical and aggressive agenda of sexual expression and a denial of basic biological truth,” according to Beckwith

“Anatomy matters,” Beckwith said. “Requiring girls to share a locker room with anatomical boys is a bad idea, regardless of how those boys sexually identify or express themselves.”

Eventually people will wake up to see that their are no differences between the Republicans the the Demorats

I don't know. If they can't tell the difference between a man and a woman, how will they tell the difference b/t dems and republicans?

All civil lawsuits involving women children sexual assault / molestation as a result of Baker’s actions should list him as the primary defendant when their cases are filed. The sexuality should also be made known as well as any crimes relating to sexual offenses in their past because you will usually find something if you take a look at them. They didn’t become the sexual deviants they are overnight.

< Those Republicans really rise to the challenge, don’t they?

I don’t think there are really two parties anymore. They just pretend because it brings in more donations that way.

< This bill is worse than you know. If you tell someone who you think is a threat to your daughter or your daughter herself says no to this "person" entering the bathroom you are violating their civil rights and the fines are harsh $2500 and a year in jail if my memory is correct. Where are your civil rights...

So I guess the alternative is to wait until they molest your child then wait for the police to arrive, jail him (make money off the jail time), then have him lawyer up with a fellow sicko pedophile attorney who gets him off on a tecnicality. Screw that. Just beat him to death and say it was an accident and lawyer up. Fight fire with fire.

I am coming to the conclusion that we elected Democrats to head the House and Senate as the few remaining opposing what is happening are being ridiculed. So, all others who don’t speak out about what is happening are in fact Democrats.

Republicans don’t live in Massachusetts, New Jersey or NYC.

LOL, there are a few of us here and we came out strong for Trump during the primary. Baker is useless, he's all talk, no action and aims to please the dems. At least Romney pretended to stand up to the dem run legislature, this guy doesn't even try. He talks a good game but when it comes to delivering, he doesn't know how or doesn't want to.

I’ll have to ask GOPster if he’s done anything worthwhile.

IMO, my RINO Governor HAS and I’m glad he was elected instead of Pat Quinn, who would have vastly raised taxes.

Many IL freepers don’t agree with me cause he loves fags and abortion ect (which we already knew and had no expection he wouldn’t be awful on those issues).

If I do decide to argue against Baker’s reelection, I certainly won’t add references to “letting the dem win”. Dems are pure evil are we mustn’t forget that. Democrats NEVER say “let the Republicans win”.

True, but it would be a mistake to think that the boys (especially under 16 yo) are not vulnerable to the this as well. Don’t think that boys are immune.

Ah but girls remember rapes forever and suicide when sexted.

Boys don’t get raped? Boys don’t get sexually abused? And when they do it’s all forgotten by 21?

To suggest it’s only the girls who stand to lose, and lose big, but not the boys, is to deny reality.

That should be Obvious, Captain!

I opposed this Socialist creep RINO from Jump Street since he first ran in 2010. With scum like him to enact the most radical of the Democrat Sodomite agenda, who needs Democrats ?
