Yes but they wouldn’t have taken you on. I imagine one look at you would have told them here was trouble. They go after people whose build and body language all say ‘victim’.
That was just another version of the knockout game. As such, anyone could be a victim, as long as there's an escape route available.
maybe 15 years ago five or six of them came over to me on an empty bus stop near the Staten Island Ferry. I was going to catch the boat.
They said some trash and I said “Get the #### away from me”
The “leader” then said he didn’t mean nothin and asked me about what kind of rock n roll i like. Odd question but i guess he knew I didn’t like rap. I said Led Zep and he said “me too” or something like that. Then I walked away.
After I walked away some black woman ran up to me and kept profusely apologing for her people. I told her that’s ok.
She broke my heart.
Another time i had five HUGE black dudes get in my cab from the movies, which means no address if there’s a crime. I could barely drive there was so little room.
They gave me the address, got out there and even gave a small tip.
You never know in life :) I was sure I was done.
