This could be the most interesting speech of the GOP Convention
AMERICAN THINKER ^ | JULY 16, 2016 | Thomas Lifson

Posted on 07/16/2016 7:24:12 AM PDT by onyx

I was excited when I first heard that Peter Thiel was going to be a speaker at the Republican National Convention.  While everyone naturally focuses on what Trump and Pence will have to say, Thiel, often labeled an “eccentric billionaire,” could help rebrand the Trump-era GOP.

Like Trump, Thiel is flamboyant and loves shaking things up.  Andrew Styles of Heat Street:

Thiel, who is also a Trump delegate to the convention, is an interesting choice. In some ways, Thiel’s support for Trump makes a lot of sense. Both are billionaires who like to disrupt the sh*t out of the status quo. Both are skeptical of “democracy,” and love to sue people who say mean things about them.

Thiel recently disclosed that he financially backed Hulk Hogan’s lawsuit against Gawker.  That publication had previously outed Thiel as gay.  The left can’t understand how a homosexual can be drawn to the small government party that includes a libertarian wing.  That may be because it's so threatening to the Democratic coalition.

Thiel is a legendary investor in Silicon Valley.  He co-founded PayPal, cashed out, made a series of smart investments in early stage ventures that paid off big – most notably Facebook, whose board he sits on today.  (Facebook hastened to clarify that Thiel is appearing not as a representative of Facebook, but as a private individual.)

Thiel founded and is the largest investor in a company called Palantir Technologies that works with “big data” and mainly sells its services to government intelligence agencies.  Thiel launched it with support from the CIA’s venture capital arm.  The company called off a planned $400 million round of financing in order to avoid disclosure requirements.

As of last year, Palantir CEO wasn't enthusiastic to take his company public.

Mr. Theil sounds like our kind of guy; a real mover and shaker.

The next few days should be fun...

Once again, we’re seeing why Trump is hated and feared by the existing “establishment”. New paradigms upset the fat and comfortable and they might have to work to retain their money and positions.

If I thought Paul Manafort would listen to this old rabid Trump attack dog, I would write him and suggest that myself.

In an ideal situation, I would love to see Jim record some comments and have them re-broadcast on the big screen at the convention, and he could rightly say that he was speaking for thousands and thousands of FReepers.

Cool. But I am much more excited that Laura Ingraham will be speaking, on Wednesday, I believe she said on her show. She doesn’t take prisoners, and I am looking forward to it!

Mr. Theil sounds like our kind of guy GAY ?

Why? Just because he has $?

He's on the board of Facebook where other FR threads today note that seemingly all the anti-BLM and anti-jihad posts get taken down and scrubbed.

No one has a problem with this because he has $?

Have we allowed ourselves to become r a i nbow co-opted and do we now just look the other way because he has $ and just because we think this kind of guy will "shake things up"?

Sean Hannity constantly rattles off and lumps together all those persecuted by Islamists as though we are all equals: "Christians, Jews, Gays, Lesbians...." he lists.

He used to champion the causes of the Christian bakers and marriage defenders, and now we allow this the Islamist terror thing to push us into an alliance with a group that is in its own way as equally culturally destructive.

Islamists aren't "anti-homosexual" - many practice homosexuality. What they are is "anti-weak," hence they engage in sexual brutality with those they consider "weak" - both male and female They brutalize women and throw effeminate males off buildings.

So where does this Theil guy stand on BLM and anti-Islamism himself since as a Board member of FB he has done nothing about the censorship over there?

If he is really out to shake things up why doesn't he start with his own Facebook organization? And don't forget how the PayPal Theil founded was all on board with promoting normalization of gay-marriage.

Is conservatism for sale? Are we being co-opted just because he has $?

In California, the candidate presents a slate of delegates to the Secretary of State here... As Trump won CD 12, Thiel was elected as a delegate.

Heh. I love your post though I don’t agree with it.

I think there is significant value here. I don’t see it so much as a payoff as someone who has countercultural views and is on our side. So while the leftscum exorciates us for our so called “intolerance”, they practice a sort of compassion fascism where only their view of tolerance is practiced. Truth is, the right wing is where the tolerance is. We tolerate homosexuals, yes. Milo and Thiel are two examples who are well known and well thought of. BUT very importantly, we also celebrate straights and their lifestyles which are absolutely necessary for the continuation of our society. Looking for tolerance? Counterculture? Real freedom of expression? Look to the right. An important message for what is really a marketing show.

Also one important detail that this author sort of glossed over is Thiel is a fighter and tenacious. The gawker stuff was great. Thiel served revenge as it was intended to be served: ice cold. And to the media no less. He bankrupted a bunch of evil media bastards. We want fighters of that mindset in our camp.

“an alliance with a group that is in its own way as equally culturally destructive.”

Really? I don’t remember gays chopping off people’s heads, making many thousands of women into sex slaves, wanting to kill or subjugate non-Muslims, brutally taking over large swaths of countries, continually murdering large numbers of people (including children) in attacks worldwide, and desiring a world-wide caliphate that would destroy any semblance of civilization or human rights. I would say these things would be tremendously more culturally (and more importantly, physically) destructive than whatever gays to get around to doing.

I don’t support the pushy “gay agenda” either (although I don’t especially care what they’re doing in private), but we really need to get our priorities straight here. The threats coming from both groups are not even vaguely comparable. Ask yourself which scenario is worse: 1) you have to live in a society where gays can marry each other, are shown positively on TV, and some people may have to bake them wedding cakes or issue them marriage licenses, but everyone can overwhelmingly carry on their lives as they prefer, or 2) like the Islamists want, you live in a society where radical Muslims have created their caliphate, you have to practice your Christianity in private and pay a special tax to your masters (and if you don’t, you might just have your head removed), your daughter is a sex slave to jihadists, your granddaughter becomes some imam’s fourth wife (whom he can legally beat), and everyone around you must live under the oppressive rules of Sharia law? I’m not saying you should like either scenario, but the answer of which is almost unimaginably worse is very clear.

I’m glad he’s on our side in this election (and he was in 2012 and 2008 as well so God bless him) but I’m a bit uneasy with a homosexual addressing the convention. I hope he doesn’t mention gay issues, the last we need is a speaker at the convention criticizing the pro-family platform.

Rep. Jim Kolbe (not long after libs outed him, IIRC) in 2000 was the last one, Vermont had civil unions but this was well before the explosion of “gay rights”.

Really? I don’t remember gays chopping off people’s heads, making many thousands of women into sex slaves, wanting to kill or subjugate non-Muslims....

Homosexuality is at he heart of the muslim system of subjugation.

You apparently have no knowledge of the homosexual grooming of young males which takes place in the muslim world.

This short clip from a larger Ann Barnhart series of lectures touches on this:

Ann Barnhardt - Islamic hatred of women has led to rampant homosexuality (8 of 13)

And still another informative article:

Islamic cleric confirms Muslim men really are sodomites

Ask yourself which scenario is worse: 1) you have to live in a society where gays can marry each other, are shown positively on TV, and some people may have to bake them wedding cakes or issue them marriage licenses, but everyone can overwhelmingly carry on their lives as they prefer,...

Stop right there. You are clearly blind to the tyranny the resultant loss of Constitutional protection for religious freedom and freedom of conscience your libertarianly-glib attitude represents. Lose these freedoms and loss of still more freedoms won't end there.

The homosexual demands on American society will not end with gay acceptance and forced civil recognition of gay "marriage." They want to destroy the Judeo-Christian foundation of American society from bathrooms to locker rooms to the Boy Scouts, and forced acceptance upon clergy, won't end with "I'm OK, You're OK."

The CA attorney general and US attorney general are now trying to figure out ways of prosecuting "thought crimes" regarding "climate change deniers." You don't think that kind of thing won't happen with forced acceptance of homosexuality upon churches in the name of "anti-bigotry" at both State and Federal levels?

What about other beliefs that don't conform to the fascist State? Destruction of Judeo-Christian principles upon which our freedoms are founded leads the slippery slope erosion of all freedoms.

With homosexuality as with Islam there is no freedom of thought or freedom of conscience. It is all tyranny and subjugation.

Homosexuals are satisfied only when society at large is as self-destructive and self-loathing as they are and that is their ultimate definition of "acceptance," because the rest of society is then no more better adjusted spiritually than they are. Equal misery for all -- the liberal's dream.

The bloody tyranny of Islam makes the "soft" tyranny of the homosexual agenda seem almost quaint in your mind by comparison.

In the end Satan couldn't be more pleased with your blythe ignorance and your passive acceptance of moral rot.

I think you are mistaking what is mostly a symptom of a much wider reaching moral decline as its primary cause. Gays are being used by the anti-democratic, anti-free speech, anti-free thought Cultural Marxists just like every other “victim” group that they manipulate in their long-term efforts to destroy Western civilization. Gays have been around forever; they didn’t start causing significant societal and cultural problems until the hard-left began pushing them to agitate. And no, regardless of your claimed ability to read Satan’s mind, nothing you mentioned (even if I actually bought it all) suggests to me that gays are worse than radical Muslims trying to saw my head off.

Well said, Fenwick! But Agamemnon is not going to respond to reason because there’s a sort of bigotry that defies the intent of his presumed Christian faith to be accepting of people.

I’ll address Agamemnon now:

Obviously you probably have never watched Milo Yianopoulos in action.

I urge you to spend 13 enjoyable minutes watching this exceptionally talented conservative GAY spokesman who is not an in-your-face gay.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=0PIvuYCW4rg#t=5

After watching the foregoing video, anyone who could reject having him working WITH us AGAINST the left is rather stubborn.

Milo is nailing the PC-regimes on College Campuses across the country and he’s no coward.

Respectfully, "Alan" homosexuality is a self-loathing, self-disrespecting mental disease, which requires a cure, not endorsement which condemns those who suffer from it to their personal hells of dysfunctional tyranny.

As a clinician who has worked on the development teams of several anti-psychotic and anti-depressive medications, I view homosexuals clinically and no differently than do I view any human being suffering from a diseased state of mind. "Bigotry" is merely another buzzword misappropriated by leftists such as yourself to perpetuate your whiney sense of victimhood.

It is not I who is not accepting of them as human beings -- more correctly it is they who cannot accept themselves -- an outworking of a their compulsive pathologies and syndromes related to a deep seated sense of personal inadequacy -- and at times very abusive and violent among themselves (e.g., muslim on muslim, and queer on queer violence which is so commonplace) and from where much of their personal drama springs.

There are some weak souls who have been preyed upon by aggressive homosexuals, and through rape and abuse they have lost a healthy sense of their gender identities. Many become suicidal, as rape victims of all types often do. Violent, demeaning homosexual abuse by muslims amongst themselves is borne from their medieval caste systems that spell out who among them are worthy of being the "pitchers" - those who plan the bomb attack, and the "receivers" -- those who make the bombs and go on the suicide missions in hope of pacifying the anger of Allah.

I admire the artistry and talent of many entertainers who happen to be or have been homosexuals. Many are inspired to work out their senses of personal inadequacy through the creative process of music and art. The music is no less beautiful for having been created by a tortured soul.

Milo Yianopoulos may be a very talented and sharp witted individual whose personal disaffection with liberalism is something which I also happen to share with him. But at his core - as distinguished from anti-PC positions he champions -- he is still internally troubled and mentally depressed -- as are his "gay" liberal friends whose PC sensibilities he revels in tweaking.

He is welcome to continue to do so as do I, but I will give no quarter to promotion of or attempts by persons like you under the cover of an assumed "conservatism" to normalize his diseased mental state, which in the end seeks to undermine the Judeo-Christian philosophy that this country was founded upon.

Buy a clue Fenwick: Radical muslims are homosexualized savages who will try to saw your head off, simply as an outworking of their inherently violence-driven sexual gratification.

Homosexuals are particularly susceptible to philosophies that affirm their sense of victimhood. They affirm their victimhood by making you share in theirs.

No truly freedom loving person desires to lower themselves into the pit of subservience to the personal mental tyranny that is homosexuality.

It comes as no surprise that there are homosexuals who will find it to their advantage to leech off the blessings which are brought about by conservatism-in-practice as a any liberal does - while at the same time undermining the Judeo-Christian foundation which forms the basis for that prosperity.

That is what Thiel is all about.

As was done just yesterday in the United Methodist Church in the USA. Openly gay married bishop elected....against the Book of Discipline of the church and just could not wait until later this year when a board was to meet to discuss same-sex issues in the church that went unresolved during General Conference!!!! Several elders (preachers) have married same-sex couples which is also against BofD!! They tear at the fabric of God and family and don't look back.
