I have no opinion about who is wrong.
The story is nonsense on its face, as anyone who deals with medical records knows.
The paper (or the electrons) belong to the provider. The information belongs to the patient, or in the case of a child to the legal guardian.
A legitimate request for copies cannot be refused, is never refused. To refuse is a crime.
The story was wrong to emphasize the medical records issue. Such records are governed by strict privacy rules (maybe even too strict), and Geller should know that. (About ten years ago I was involved in a bicycle accident, and was taken to a local hospital by the aid car. They couldn’t even tell my FAMILY what hospital I was sent to, until someone gave my strong-willed sister a HINT about where I was. It’s crazy sometimes, and its entirely separate from issues concerning Muslims.)
That is indeed who is being denied. The mother of the child. This is not the 5 year old child that was molested, or raped.
This is the mother of a child that received cut marks on her from the boy (who was subsequently involved in the case with the 5 year old girl) who had reportedly possessed a pocket knife. This event had occurred 2 weeks prior to the molestation/rape of the 5 year old.
She is the one being denied her child's medical reports from that incident.
