CLEVELAND (KCBS) – Members of the California delegation at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland have fallen sick with the norovirus, a highly contagious stomach bug that causes diarrhea and vomiting.

KCBS reporter Doug Sovern first tweeted the news of the outbreak Tuesday.

About a dozen in CA delegation felled by norovirus now, moving them offsite as a precaution to keep from spreading. #RNCinCLE (I feel fine)

— Doug Sovern (@SovernNation) July 19, 2016

Sovern said the outbreak started among some members of the delegation on Sunday and spread to more than a dozen members.

Who DOESN’T get sick after flying.

I've been lucky (or blessed) so far.

“I heard they were staying at Great Wolf Lodge or some such place that has a waterpark in Sandusky.

Lots of kids would be there.”

Sandusky? Kids? The food is the least think I would be worried about.

It happened on the plane. Who DOESN’T get sick after flying.

That's what cruise ship attorneys tell all their customers.☺

A large portion of the CA delegation is staying at one of the hotel-water park establishments near Cedar Point. If they got it Sunday, they probably brought it with them. That could get weird if norovirus spreads out there with the heat wave coming in.

Or maybe the members of the California delegation like so many Californicators were just full of crap to begin with.

Just on the Cleveland news: It was at the Kalahari Resort, near Cedar Point. The suspected cases were in the advance planning team for the CA delegation, who got there Thursday. The symptoms are consistent with Norvovirus, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.

If they got there Thurs it’s more likely they picked it up somewhere in Cleveland and then spread it amongst themselves, for onset on Sun.

Probably is the resort. Noro comes on fast so if they were there on Thursday then it had to be contracted in Cleveland. Noro is pretty tough to kill so there could be more cases shortly. Hope not. The opportunity of a lifetime ruined. Gotta feel for these folks.

If norvovirus ever gets into either of those environments....the water parks and Cedar Point out near Sandusky or spreading among the delegates in the Q for many hours each day, I'd think it could get unpleasant really quickly.

Tomorrow 85 degrees forecast, then Thursday through Sunday in the 90s. I'm risk-adverse. Don't think I'll put myself in an environment where Norvo is likely to spread.
