MSNBC: Trump's bold vision: Make America Hide Under the Bed Again
MSNBC ^ | July 22, 2016 | Steve Benen

Fear is a powerful instinct. Fear is so potent, and the innate drive to protect one’s self from harm is so overpowering, that it can override almost every other instinct, including those related to intellect and judgment.

Which is why Donald Trump desperately wants to frighten you.

The obvious problem with the Republican presidential nominee’s convention speech last night is that it was less a speech and more a series of strung together scary falsehoods.

[Snip]

Trump wants you to be afraid of criminals. And immigrants. And Democrats. And refugees. And government regulations. And quite possibly the monster that could be hiding under your bed.

In fact, as far as the Republican presidential candidate is concerned, the United States is already a dystopian hellscape, where the sun no longer shines, where few can experience joy, and where all hope is lost.

But don’t worry, Donald J. Trump can make America great again.

Just don’t ask him how.

Then why ban posters who don’t support Trump?

One picture is worth a thousand words. If you met someone with eyes like that out in public, you would probably be ready to call the police.

It could be coordinated, but actually it's quite predictable. If all the media is basically left wing cheerleaders who support Hillary and Obama, then how can they admit the utter failures over the last 7 years? Thus anyone attacking their team has got to be wrong, negative, dark, etc.

Oh, it's entirely predictable. We knew they would spin everything in a negative light, and we know they will offer glowing reviews of Hillary during and after her convention.

The "dark tone" theme coming from the media was too consistent to not have been coordinated. They set up Trump as the darkness, so that they can say Hillary is the light.

You know the article or news story is not playing well when they have no comments.

Also, the difference is Trump’s “fear mongering” is actually based on reality, whereas the dems fear mongering is completely made up.

The collective population of the US is crawling out from under the bed finally - after all these years of bed wetters telling us it is merely raining while pissing down our backs.

Ha. Nice screen cap.

It was a home run speech.

Trump knows where the average American is right now. Out of work. Underemployed. Broke. Worried about the future. Not safe from crime or terrorism. Seeing the country go down.

Hillary promises more of the same.

Trump is change.

Yes if you are an illegal, a thug or a terrorist it’s good that you hide under your bed and stay there for the safety of the rest of US. If you’re an illegal it’s not under your bed you should be but by your dresser packing up and getting ready to go back to where you came from. Then if you want to be an American, well come through the legal process if you can!

Go Trump Go!

FreeRepublic isn’t banning posters for not supporting Trump. They are however, banning posters who have been disruptive in their opposition to Trump. My personal opinion is that a few FReepers got caught up in the net for being a bit too boisterous and perhaps needed time-outs instead of banishment - but I don’t make the rules.

The difference (to me at any rate) is that I can recognize when an article is posted without endorsement of the content as opposed to “flame-bait” material that is posted to incite.

So can the moderators ;’}

The thing is, in Chicago and other liberal urban centers, the residents DO HIDE UNDER THE BED, or more appropriately their children sleep in the bathtub, so they are safe from bullets zinging through the walls.

They keep telling us we are stupid. It’s not working. Trump Train full steam ahead. As a (perhaps) younger FReeper aged 27, I have been seeing this from Kindergarten up. Can confirm: the public skewl system is an indoctrination machine along with the media. Fun fact: 6 or 7 corporations own the entirety of news outlets (including Fox News).
