Thank goodness for Michigan’s Proposal A that limits the amount that property taxes can be raised, but are then reset when the property is sold to a new owner.
The liberal stupidity tax.
My God, that’s criminal. That’s more than my mortgage payment per month.
And the property taxes that I pay for my home in Indiana are $1800. That is why it is their back up plan.
How about Arkansas. Retirees over 65 can never have another property tax increase by law. Arkansas is tax friendly to it’s senior citizens.
Wonder who they voted for.
It’s just like Federal Income Tax ... take it from your paycheck a few hundred at a time and things are fine. Make people write a check for the full amount once a year and there would be a revolt.
If that increase is a common one, look for a lot of insurance fires followed by relocations rather than rebuilds.
The Russians were responsible for this, you know.
Just the beginning. Property owners had better git while the gitting is good.
I’d have loved it if they brought up politics. Perhaps asking him if he voted for the people in power and how long he’s voted for them.
Please DO NOT come to Indiana. We don’t want the Chicago mindset here.
You voted for it. Now live with it...................
This is *ALL* about people in government voting themselves unsustainable retirement packages for lazy government-worker bums.
Get a government job when you’re 18 and retire when you’re 48.
We are looking to retire in the next few years, and move somewhere else. I told my husband that I DO NOT want to pay $1,000/month in property taxes. So, there are several places we won’t be going. California is one of the states we cannot consider, even though we lived there for 20 years and loved the activities we were able to enjoy. And we would NEVER consider Chicago again.
Illinois and Chicago are dying quickly. The public unions are taking down the state and the city. There are lots of million dollar homes sitting on the market in Illinois. The rich are buying small condos or renting downtown apartments so they can work there and pay taxes in Indiana or Wisconsin.
There are exceptions, but generally speaking if you pay $14k a year in property taxes you are out of your bloomin’ mind.
Some lovely places to live in this country where the proptax is under 1k. The money you save — an extra thou a month — can always be spent on something other than govt tribute.
Also known as the “White Privilege” reparation tax.
Rejoice in your tyranny.
