I thought the Roe case just punted the decision to the States. It’s effectively been overturned already; nowadays the Feds are forcing abortions on the States.

That’s what the case did. It didn’t legalize abortion. The justices created a right that’s not in the Constitution.
No, it didn't. It created BS law out of the Constitution's ass and that's why we have all these litmus tests, political divisiveness and discord, and abortion doctors getting murdered all this time.
Everything was fine - from a political, 10th Amendment standpoint - fine with abortion. States had their own laws on abortion. That all changed in 1973 with the most disastrous ruling in SCOTUS history.
