A government report discovered the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) illegally stockpiles gun owners’ personal information.
The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), the go-to federal oversight agency, conducted an audit of ATF and found it does not remove certain identifiable information, despite the law explicitly mandating it do so. GAO conducted reviews for four data systems, and concluded at least two of ATF’s systems violated official protocols.

It's only a matter of time and every day we're one step closer to Australian/British-style gun confiscation. To deny that it's possible is to assume that the ATF is only maintaining those records out of curiosity or in a quest for enhanced "situational awareness".
What a shocking revelation.
Any time you have to fill out and sign ANY government form for ANYTHING, you are “in their records” and will remain there in perpetuity to be used in ANY WAY the government sees fit.
To believe otherwise is willfull stupidity.

How many BATF agents, lawyers, and bureaucrats would fight you?

How many would (deliberately) break the law and retain the records anyway - As in their offsite “backup” servers. You know, the ones Hillary did not have.

Why would they follow the law when there are no consequences for breaking the law? Heads need to roll once Trump is elected.

I thought there couldn’t be any more least shocking news but this just showed me one more on the list of least shocking news.
I’ve been called paranoid for insisting for some years now that the BATFE is not only doing this but has been directed to do so by political figures at the highest levels. Figure it out - when you fill out that 4473 they link a specific serial number to your personal identification information right there at the point of sale and transmit those data to a central government repository. Gun registration is a fact, and yes, it’s specifically illegal and what are you going to do about it? People need to go to jail for this and nobody will.
