Any time you have to fill out and sign ANY government form for ANYTHING, you are in their records and will remain there in perpetuity to be used in ANY WAY the government sees fit. That's for sure and here is the proof. We've all heard the stories of someone who was listed as dead by the government when they are very much alive. Even with the help of their congresscritter it is nearly impossible to get them to un-dead you in the records.
Personally, if the gov decided I didn't officially exist anymore I wouldn't argue it.

If you walked in the front door today, with a court order demanding they delete the records ... How many BATF agents, lawyers, and bureaucrats would fight you? The only way things could change would be if an incoming president ordered his AG to take a look at the law the BATF is violating, and figure out how to PERSONALLY criminally/civilly charge individual BATF managers and IT people over those illegalities.
Only if they faced the prospect of personally going to jail, or being bankrupted, would they ever do something about illegal record-keeping.

I never held any illusion that they deleted the info before making a backup copy somewhere.
They're the government, they make the laws, they don't have to follow it themselves. (I wish I was kidding).

Free market selling and buying of firearms is the check valve preventing confiscation. If one ever sells a firearm do it on the free market for cash.
Also buy on the free market for cash.
The free market is why they want universal back ground checks. They do away with the check valve.

They don’t have the manpower.
We outnumber them, significantly.
All that remains is the will to resist when the time comes.

Anyone who is surprised by this revelation hasn’t been paying attention.

The federal manpower will be used for "shock and awe" against a small select group of high profile 2nd Amendment proponents to intimidate the sheeple to surrender their arms.
The real federal power against gun owners will be economic. Just like those who have avoided purchasing medical insurance, once the fed finds outs, it will retain your annual IRS tax refund. Now expand that strategy to what the IRS does to tax cheats - seizure of bank accounts and property. Add to that denial of Social Security and VA benefits. Few will be able to withstand that level of oppression.
Remember, 100% compliance with firearm surrender is not necessary for government tyranny to prevail.

I am so [NOT] surprised. Does ATF -ever- do anything that is ethical or even legal?

What can I say? Being dead isn’t all sunshine and roses.

... violated official protocols
See Brady Act. Against the law too ... probably one of those "intent" laws, plus laws that bind the government are useless feelgood pap anyway, there is no remedy when the government doesn't follow a law that applies to government conduct.

Point taken, but when that starts I guess we’ll all find out who’s selling wolf tickets and who isn’t.
I’m dying free.

Even if the BATFE deleted the information, the NSA has it all backed-up and stored in Utah.

Let’s see if the NRA, GOA, etc. earn their pay. For the ones that don’t join to file suit....”No soup for you!”

The Minutemen were an organized militia.
It is later than most folks realize. When the Dems get their 5th SCOTUS justice, the 2nd Amendment will be re-interpreted and gutted. The real tyranny will begin then.
If modern day patriots have a hope of prevailing, they better recognize the signs and start to organize.

We never learned about this in the CA public school system lol; I’m familiar with the incident...this is what I’m talking about, but on a national scale...if necessary.
I pray to God it isn’t. Despite my rhetoric I don’t want this but I cannot submit to tyranny.
Thanks for posting.
