1998 - FBI launches the NICS. The FFL dealer contacts the NICS by telephone or Internet. When the background check is initiated 3 databases are accessed: (1) the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), (2) the Interstate Identification Index (III), and (3) the NICS Index. According to the FBI, checks are usually determined within minutes of initiation. If there is no match in any of the checked databases, the dealer is cleared to proceed with the transfer. Otherwise, the FBI's NCIS Section must contact the appropriate judicial and/or law enforcement agencies for more information. Per the Brady Act, the FBI has 3 business days to make its decision to approve or deny the transfer. If the FFL has not received the decision within that time it may legally proceed anyway.
The FBI originally wanted the NICS inquiry requests by FFL dealers (essentially AFT Form 4473) for prospective firearm buyers be allowed to be kept on record for 18 months. The GOA backed them (i.e., AG Janet Reno)down to 6 months retention back in 2000.
No records that reach the government’s hands are ever destroyed. Try to get a misdemeanor expunged. You will get assured, even certified that it is expunged but ten years later when you apply for a new job it turns up on the background check.
....And one day closer to a second civil war or revolution.

The minutemen were NOT organized militia, but rather unorganized militia with NO govt. backing....They resisted govt. interference in their affairs.
Today an organized militia would be the National Guard essentially a state’s own army separate from the US Army.
Occasionally you see, mostly democrat, politicians referring to our military veterans as “domestic terrorists.” The Dems always tell us who they fear. It is these militia, unorganized but with prior training and military skills, that they fear.
The proponents of Tyranny i.e. Democrats, know that these veterans are the modern day “minutemen.” Unorganized as of yet, but a danger to leftist goals at a moments notice with the right spark. I think a severe restriction on the 2nd Amendment like the Dems are trying to do in California right now could provide such a spark.
Just to keep you up to date the Calif. Laws just signed by Gov. Brown are getting huge pushback by the various Sheriffs in the state, most of whom are openly advocating non compliance in their counties.....
What happens in California re these laws over the next couple of years will be pivotal one way or the other. It would behoove the remainder of the US to pay close attention. It is the NRA/GOA that need to lead the way or they’ll prove their uselessness.

We are in agreement that military vets are the ones most feared by the Democrats. The Dems have had 7 years to indoctrinate our young troops about the evils of white privilege and Christianity while praising the virtues of homosexuality/transgenderism, diversity, and Islam. Today's young veterans are a far smaller % of the population than the WWII vets in Athens, TN, during 1946.
Appreciate the update about CA sheriffs' pushing back against Gov. Moonbeam's latest laws against the 2A. Yes, CA, CT, IL, MA, NY, and WA are the tripwire states where the Democratic state governments pose the biggest threats to the 2A.
