Looking a bit like the Rick Santorum decision to endorse Arlen Specter over Pat Toomey.

All the fear was if Specter won the election anyway he’d become a complete raging boil on their collective tookus.

My guess is Manafort asked Ryan what it would take to call of the dogs. Or, conversely, Ryan's folks called to ask what would it take for Trump to lay off of Ryan.

I think it was a good move on Trump’s part. It showed that he is not playing favorites in the primary and he will endorse the winner of the Republican race. If he gets behind Nehlen and Ryan wins, Trump is screwed. If he gets behind Ryan and Nehlen wins, it shows Trump isn’t a conservative.

Staying impartial was the best play. He could have been a bit more tactful in his lack of endorsement.
