US nukes at Turkey base at risk of seizure: report
MSN News ^ | August 15, 2016 | Thomas WATKINS

Dozens of US nuclear weapons stored at a Turkish air base near Syria are at risk of being captured by "terrorists or other hostile forces," a Washington think tank claimed Monday.

Critics have long been alarmed by America's estimated stockpile of about 50 nuclear bombs at Incirlik in southern Turkey, just 70 miles (110 kilometers) from the border with war-torn Syria.

The issue took on fresh urgency last month following the attempted coup in Turkey, in which the base's Turkish commander was arrested on suspicion of complicity in the plot.

“He didn't put them there. My understanding is, they had been based there for years, dating back well into the Cold War.”

I know Obama did not originally put them there.

But Obama helped created an anti-American government in Turkey and left our nukes at risk. Our nukes are at risk because of Obama’s actions. That is what I meant.

“The Turks are not going to touch our nukes.”

Islamic terrorists attacked our cities and killed thousands of innocent Americans. They continually organize terrorist plots. They kill American servicemen with weapons our government provided them. They constantly chant “Death to America” and vow to kill every American. Whether it is the Turks or Islamic terrorists in the area our nukes will be worth capturing.

Agree. There are safe guards in place that even Obozo couldn’t stop. There are still some adults around. “

Back in the 1970’s when I was a member of the U.S.A.F. Security Police in SAC,a stateside base that had nukes would have at least 60 men to protect our class (A) nuclear weapons. That was stateside where in the event all hell broke loose you could call upon an Army division to assist with protecting them.

If it happens that the Turks really want those weapons it won’t take much for them to get them. They could easily throw a couople of divisions of combat troops against our Airbases and take the nukes in a walk.

With Obsma’s history,he would do nothing to stop it.

He might even blame it on movie.Dr.Strangelove in this case.

Sorry for reposting this again but there was a big error in the text caused by Apples auto-correct system.

Set them up so they can be remotely triggered, then if stolen detonate them one by one at they’re locations. Have GPS tracking.......then blame whoever stole them

The Turks are not going to touch our nukes.

I have to assume that they are well guarded by troops that already have shoot to kill orders that no one can override.

We live in strange times and it is now easily imaginable that a President of the United States could set it up for another nation to get control of our nuclear weapons. I am not saying Obama has or would do so, but that I would not be surprised if he did.

Appreciate your background in nukes.
I may be wrong, but having them and arming them are not the same thing, correct?

True!but I still would not want those nukes subject to being captured do to the technology they contain.

Imagine if the Turks could reverse engineer our nukes than build their own.

Can anyone answer why we have a nuclear bomb stockpile in Turkey?

What purpose does it serve?

Not to worry, it’s just part of 0bummer’s “weapons redistribution” program, similar to the wealth redistribution program, underway for the past 8 years. Nothing “unexpected” will happen...

The President and/or Congress should notify governments worldwide that any force turned against that base will incur immediate and devastating retaliation.

Yes, this is bad news that's been totally predictable for weeks.

Worse they would probably use those nukes on Washington DC... Some people might have mixed feelings about that...but it would be very sad. /s

It would be sadder than our elites playing the violent black underclass against middle class citizens. Sadder than flooding the country with violent illegals to prop up the vote for white liberal elites... it would be sadder than all of that...

We need to go in there and take out OUR nukes... then remove ALL nukes from ME countries. If we don't do that - and soon - a 'mistake' could happen and the some ISIS crazy will get his hands on one of our nukes. BRING ALL NUKES BACK TO THE UNITED STATES NOW BEFORE A TRAGEDY HAPPENS.

Duh! We should have started moving those nukes out mos ago. Now if we do the Turks may well move to seize them. Its a terrible situation.

If they are still there, this administration has really, really crapped on itself (and us). There should have been a steady stream of cargo planes ex-filtrating the nukes as soon as the power was turned back on. I mean, just how stupid can one get? Geez.

Anything’s possible, but I wouldn’t lose a lot of sleep over it. The Turks are not going to risk their entire diplomatic world status (including NATO membership at the very least) in order to steal a bunch of lumps of useless radioactive slag. They know this, since they were apprised of pertinent security measures before the devices ever landed in their country. Our armed forces have very specific instructions and procedures, and beyond that I shall not go.

“The Turks are not going to risk their entire diplomatic world status (including NATO membership at the very least)”

The Turkish government will not take responsibility. They will only allow it to occur. The current Turkish government put is in place only because of the failures of the Obama administration. The government is very anti-American and very friendly to Islamic terrorist groups.

Some Muslim group or Muslim country will actually get control of the nukes. I think they will probably be used to kill Americans and add another weapon to the terrorists arsenals.

Or they may end up going to Iran.

It was pretty clear a few weeks ago, but the news didn’t really surface much on the US media.
