Covering up their misbehavior in the bathroom, maybe hanging with girls (if they have girlfriends). Still no excuse for the whopper they told.
Nothing, really.
He was simply a boy who lied to his mother about what happened to his watch. It was his mother who went public with the story, which then spun out of control.
Lesson to all:
Don't lie to your mother! Not because it's bad, but because they can't stop themselves from meddling in your affairs, and if you tell them a lie they will meddle anyway and just make it worse.
As the commercial goes, it's what they do.
