Salon: GOP Must Dump Jesus or Risk Irrelevance in ‘Post-Christian America’
Breitbart.com ^ | 8/20/16 | by Thomas D. Williams, Ph.D.

Salon Magazine has accused the Republican Party of being out of touch with “post-Christian America,” warning the GOP that if it doesn’t renege on its alliance with Christianity, it will soon become irrelevant.

Ted Cruz’s failure to get the GOP nomination, Matthew Sheffield proclaims in Salon, “is a perfect window into trends that will set the pace of American politics for decades to come: Americans are moving away from Christianity, including people most likely to vote Republican.”

To back up his claims, Sheffield cites the 2014 Pew Research study finding that 23 percent of Americans say they’re “unaffiliated” with any religious tradition, up from 20 percent just three years earlier. The trend away from religion, and Christianity in particular, Sheffield argues, is the real cause of Republicans’ woes and their failure to win the last two elections.

“The likely reason why Republicans have declined in popularity among the non-religious is GOP’s long habit of identifying itself as a Christian party,

They want people to move away from Christian beliefs so they can more readily adopt Islam. I’m convinced of this. It is far easier to go from being an Atheist (e.g., believing in nothing) to being Islamic and to go from Christianity to Islam.

Why? Because Muslims are easier to control. They mostly do whatever the Imam tells them to do.

Sorry atheist freak. You better hope against hope that Christianity stays strong because there is another religion on the horizon that’s more than willing and with violence to fill the void. Sharia will then be shoved down your atheist throat whether you like it or not. And if you’re gay be prepared to go back in your closet or there will be hell to pay.

“...The folks around here certainly hated Ted Cruz in part because he talked like a Christian...”

I don’t think so...I think it was all the other BS Cruz came out with...In my opinion, Cruz “used” Christianity...The way he acted was NOT very Christian...

Again, my opinion....

And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Joshua 24:15

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
Matthew 6:24

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
John 3:19-21

SALON, where do you get your information? Christians have been brow beaten by you progressives to such a great extent, that when polled, rather tan being beaten over the head with a two by four, we’ll tell you just about anything to be able to turn around and return to our family. You’ve thrown religion out of schools, you’ve thrown religion out of the military, you’ve thrown religion out of the work place, you’ve thrown religion out of the government just as you attempt to through government out of churches....correction, some churches. Let’s look a bit further, I say religion...meaning the only religion personally known....CHRISTIANITY. When you say religion, you have your own concept. Religion to you is just about anything BUT CHRISTIANITY. Even if you people were taught in Public School, some must have graduated before Christ was tossed aside. Our country, believe it or not, was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. Not on Islam, not on any thing other religion. Don’t try to bully US. You will find, that when thrown into the lion’s den, we can fight with the best of you.

I think many folks are just fed up with the hypocrisy of people claiming to be Christian, and acting like anything but...

They tend to use Christianity as a shield for when they get caught...

With all due respect, I supported Cruz until it became clear (to me at least) that he was driven by ambition and not principle.

What I'm sure we can agree about is that the whole anti-religion ‘progressivism’ pushed by the hard left is a sad road to a world lacking meaning. I don't judge anyone on the basis of their beliefs, but people like this Salon writer do. Ironically, the secularism they worship is actually a religion to them, and they don't well-tolerate those who question it.

You could NOT be further from the truth. I am Christian, Ted Cruz is a play acting Christian. There is a certainty that if Ted Cruz was indeed the claimed ‘face of God’, God would have given Ted the nomination. Ted Cruz conned many, but he will never con the Creator.

Ted Cruz culled out 300 preachers in South Carolina to reenact Gideon...guess what, his preachers did not have the instruments Gideon’s army used to give God the victory.... Trumpets... After Iowa evangelical turn out for Ted I fully expected him to win South Carolina.. No one was more surprised than I, when Trump won the state.

God does not force Himself upon anyone.

But He does allow and prescribe consequences for those that make bad choices.

The GOP can do what it likes. As for me and my house, we will serve Lord.

I would also remind anyone and everyone reading this that it truly is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God. I do not recommend it.

How about Christians just dump the GOP instead? The GOPe sure seems to be in the process of causing that.
