I know this is old news at this point but more and more evidence is coming out that Lochte's version of events were not a lie so much as it was an embellishment.

I have some personal experience with this kind of thing. As a sailor stationed in San Diego many years ago a small group of us went to visit a well known tourist bar called Hussong's in Ensinada, MX. The local young men our age decided they wanted to fight with us and outnumbered us 4 to 1. The local cops got wind of it and arrested us. It was probably more for our protection than anything else but we still had to give them all the money we had then slide out of town quietly. Lesson learned. Mexican cops are corrupt. I have every reason to believe this is common in all Spanish speaking countries; maybe even Spain.

So when Lochte said he was robbed at gun point; it was likely true. What he left out was it was off duty cops working privately for someone and the damage done was just a throw away sign the store gets for free to advertise a product.

Note the spot on the wall where the sign is missing.

My other point is Lochte does not deserve to have lucrative endorsements taken from him over a small and insignificant incident blown out of proportion by the host city of Rio, Brazil.

And that caused him 4 major endorsements because he didn’t tell the truth about it all. I hope thinks it was all worth it. If you are expecting me to feel sorry for him - I do not.

Was this before or after he was pulled over by people dressed as the police and they stole his wallet and watch?

I was surprised and saddened at the number of freepers who wanted to jump on the fabricated media bandwagon.

We have been deliberately misled about what happened, and had people been paying more attention to details, such as the fact that none of the video released by the Rio police department proves the claim made by the Rio police department (that the bathroom was vandalized) people would not have been so quick to accept the accusation that Lochte had done something wrong.

Why do you keep repeating that "he didn't tell the truth about it all."

Yes, he *DID* tell the truth. He really was robbed at gunpoint by off duty Rio Police officers.

What part is not true?

I don't think he deserves to have endorsements taken away from him as punishment per se, but don't think that after his behavior and the international incident there will be many corporations willing to hire him as a spokesperson, either.

Yeah, that damage is worth every dime of the $11k the other swimmer had to give to charity plus the $50 they were mugged for.

Sooner.

Lochte learned what is thought expressive in the USA is not necessarily thought so outside of the USA.

To toss his brains and his admired standing with Americans, in Rio, reveals mostly that he is dumber than a box of rocks, more so than perhaps talented.

Reminds me of the same impulsive urge that has Hillary in hot water. The entitlement virus. Me. Me. Me. What ever it is that pleases me and my instincts.

I certainly am not going to go over all flailing about factrivia on this diversionist crap again. You and Boomer have your opinions and I have mine. Let’s let the court of public opinion and the endorsers have their say. I’d say your side is losing, BTW.

I don't expect anyone to feel anything other than an injustice has been done and should be corrected. I don't care if he supports clinton even. He didn't really lie but he didn't tell the full story either. If it wasn't such a non event made out to be a big deal by a corrupt city; I wouldn't even bring it up.

Bottom line; right is right and wrong is wrong. It's just that simple in this case. Those companies need to be made aware of this injustice so they can reconsider their endorsement offers to Lochte.

He wasn't pulled over. He was in the Cab and a Rio police officer ran up to the cab and demanded he and the others get out. Being very drunk, he might have thought he had been pulled over, but the cab was stationary when they were forced to get out of it.

Also they were *REAL* Rio police officers, and i'm betting that one or more of them were the sons or nephews of some high-ranking Rio Police officers.

The Rio police department is demonstrably lying about what happened, and I do not think they would take such a risk at getting caught and embarrassed if the people involved weren't important to some high ranking member of the Department.

My son had a similar experience (Mexico brief “detainment” by LEO) while in the USMC at San Diego.

I also think that Lochte’s story was embellished, as he told his mother. His mother, IIRC, is the one who reported it to officials. By then, he may have been reluctant to back out on his story and risk making his mother look bad.

Bottom line is that neither your opinion nor mine makes a squat bit of difference to those who’d consider endorsing him and paying him a lot of money. He’s shown what he is and he has come up wanting.

They weren't mugged for $50.00. They were robbed of $400.00.

Title says PICTURES, not PICTURE.

Where’s the rest of the pictures?

They’re not at the link.

“the damage done was just a throw away sign the store gets for free to advertise a product. “

A sign that cost Lochte millions in lost endorsements.
