We won’t have to deport them. Just make the fine for hiring them so severe that no one will hire them. Also, cut off welfare, food stamps, and all other government benefits and they will go home.
Why wouldn’t we be able to deport 12 million people?
Mexico did it.
Tax all money wired to Mexico 25%. If the Mexican government howls, ban such transactions altogether.
If 12 million illegals can be deported or encouraged to leave we might as well send the other 15 or 20 million packing as well!
Strawman. No one I know is arguing that it is physically impossible to deport 12 M. The problems are with the courts, the media, and Mexico.
Suppose you started tomorrow.
How many years to get through all the court filings to stop the deportation? We simply didn’t have all the various feel good groups willing to file cases to stop/slow down the deportation back when Ike was prez.
How long before the nightly dose of crying mothers and screaming kids on the 5 PM news being separated from their families and carried off to Mexico reaches the point that the people demand that it be stopped?
Then, what you going to do if Mexico refuses to allow the buses/trucks/planes carrying these deportees to enter their country? While the media films the deportees stuck at the border?
We can deport the whole lot of them despite the nay-saying of squishes like Rush Limbaugh. SoCal has ceased to be part of America in large swathes and anything short of deportation will condemn the rest of the country to the same fate. It’s only a matter of how soon, not if.
it starts at the top. Obama/Holder let it be known far and wide not only would they NOT enforce immigration laws, they would accept waves of illegals for their debt-funded nanny state.
So, start by saying all immigration laws will be enforced.
Deport all illegal criminals immediately
Make public examples of some businesses employing illegals. Punish sanctuary cities hard.
Make extreme tests for welfare, healthcare, etc... to exclude illegals.
I guarantee you - illegals will be rushing to deport themselves.
IMHO I think what Trump is going to do is issue something along the line of “Green Cards” after they have been deported and want back into the country.
Of course we can do this...
Yeah, I thought I’d read this before. Dated July 2010. The neighbors must be tired of hearing Roger howling at the moon for the past 6 years.
I’ve never understood the whole “We can’t deport 12 million people argument” even if it’s true. What it’s implying is that since we cannot deport ALL illegals, we should not deport ANY illegals. Such “logic” is absurd. We cannot imprison all robbers, so should we just let those we do catch go
free? Even if it’s true that we can’t get all 12 million deported, that is no reason to not deport the ones we do catch.
Of course any efforts to deport illegals must be accompanied by increased border security. When the ship is taking on water you need to plug the leak or it won’t matter how fast you can bail out the water. Rounding up 12 million illegals won’t do any good if 12 million more sneak in to replace them.
Just start imposing civil forfeiture on illegals for everything they have earned while here illegally and stand clear of the exits as they self deport.
My dad cut his “learn how to be a Border Patrol officer” teeth in Operation Wetback in Texas in the early 1950’s. He was a WWII vet. My first memories are living in a small West Texas town, where the four Border Patrol families comprised the majority of the population. He worked near his dad, who joined the Border Patrol in 1928 in North Dakota. My grandfather, a WWI vet, retired in Yuma, AZ, where he is buried. Dad died in Portland, ME, his last duty station as a Criminal Investigator for the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
I had the privilege to serve as an Immigration Inspector in the 70’s and early 80’s.
Illegals can and should be arrested, tried and deported. Same goes for those who knowingly employ illegal aliens, although they should serve time in prison instead of being deported. We don’t deport American citizens.
Enforcing our immigration laws is not an impossible task. America has done it before, and can do it again. All it takes is will power and the human resources to get it done.
And build the fence. Support those who protect our borders. We are a nation of laws. We have become a nation for the lawless.
I left the Immigration & Naturalization Service, in part, because I don’t suffer fools well (a disposition that was apparently genetically transmitted to me through my dad from my grandfather). Three of my five supervisors (in my career) were fools. When we elect fools and hire fools to run our law enforcement services, the outcome is predictably not good.
I’m in my late 60’s. And I know that even I, who hasn’t worn a badge in about four decades, could find and arrest between half a dozen to a dozen illegals per day, given the opportunity. The better trained and equipped younger men (and women) could easily meet or exceed that standard.
What America needs are leaders with the will to do what must be done to protect America, American jobs and workers and our American way of life. We are a nation of exceptional people who have built a unique, exceptional country. We can do this.
The problem then takes care of itself.
