Revisionist history on our part does us no favors. Most of the significant Presidential Cabinet and top-level White House positions were filled quickly in 2001. Attorney General (AG) Janet Reno resigned on 01/20/01 and, believe it or not, acting AG Eric Holder served till AG John Ashcroft was confirmed by the US Senate on 02/02/01.

It was the 2nd and below tiers that were severely effected by the obstructions following the Florida 2000 election mess. As I stated in my prior post, you had people who were working other jobs that had to wait to see if Bush would actually take office. Then their confirmations with the US Senate had to be scheduled and with the poison well from that PLUS a 50-50 Senate till June 2001, these confirmations became problematical. Then with 'Jumpin Jim' Jeffords moving to give the 'D' a 1 vote majority in June, it got worse!
