Age of consent laws have changed significantly in the last 12 years.
Tennessee imay be one of those states that may have changed significantly.
There seems to be in the emergence of these ex post facto prosecutions relative to teenagers in the range of 16 to 17 years of age.
Might this be one of those cases?
I wonder how old the “child” he “raped” was? I understand the legal term is “statutory rape”, but to me there is a huge difference between someone who has consensual sex with a slightly underage but fully developed young woman, and someone who actually rapes real children. Did he even know she was underage? I’ve seen many 16 and 17 year olds who look and act about 25. In some states they would be of legal age of consent. I don’t think using the term “child rape” in those cases is fair to anyone, including the victims of real pedophiles. It’s odd they gave his age, but not hers.
The article does not mention the age (at time of ‘rape’) of the victim.
Was the girl 17? Was it consensual?
When it concerns liberal media, I am always suspicious of their motive and intent.
TLC is a scumbag channel. They show the program about the little boy who is encouraged to behave and dress like a girl. It’s sickening. Willis family, you lay down with dogs, you get fleas.

The man is accused not convicted.
The rape supposedly occurred over a decade ago making is very difficult to prove. Memory fades and evidence (if any) degrades.
No details here on the accuser and his/her relationship if any to the man. No details on what initiated the investigation.
If he is guilty fine, send him to jail for life. But right now it seems like character assassination. A damming accusation with not a single detail about someone who is no doubt an adult today who claims to have been raped 12 years ago
There is no right to face your accuser in the press but where does this man go to get his reputation back.
The law doesn’t differentiate between consent and rape, if the child is under age. It is assumed the child cannot consent, as the adult has sole power.
I hope it is not true. No matter if it is or not, the left will be gleeful.

It depends. In some states it’s a separate category, unlawful sex with a minor. Whatever it’s called, equating it with actual child rape is wrong, IMHO. There is a huge difference between a guy who has sex, maybe unknowingly, with a 17 year old, and someone who rapes 7 year olds.
