Venezuela's "Death Spiral"
Gatestone Institute ^ | Sep 14, 2016 | Susan Warner

The question of whether Socialism can be an effective economic system was famously raised when Margaret Thatcher said of the British Labor Party, "I think they've made the biggest financial mess that any government's ever made in this country for a very long time, and Socialist governments traditionally do make a financial mess. They always run out of other people's money. It's quite a characteristic of them. They then start to nationalise everything."

◾There are dire reports of people waiting in supermarket lines all day, only to discover that expected food deliveries never arrived and the shelves are empty.

◾There are horrific tales of desperate people slaughtering zoo animals to provide their only meal of the day. Even household pets are targeted as a much-needed source for food.

◾President Maduro is doubling down on the proven failed policies and philosophies of "Bolivarian Socialism," while diverting attention away from the crisis -- pointing fingers at so-called "enemies" of Venezuela such as the United States, Saudi Arabia and others.

◾A dozen eggs was last reported to cost $150, and the International Monetary Fund "predicts that inflation in Venezuela will hit 720% this year.

Only the few at the top EVER benefit from socialism/communism. It is all about totalitarian POWER and CONTROL.

The RATS wet dream.

The possibility of Venezuela turning into a Western Hemisphere version of Somalia may not be so ridiculous after all.

At a very basic level, Socialism is people wanting to live off of someone else’s money. It needs people willing to work to support others. You end up with a predatory government looking to swoop in and take anything that the productive citizens create, thus strongly discouraging them from producing anything.

Are you sure the report said "this year" and not "this morning"?

It's what statists ALWAYS do when their policies fail (as they always do). I have never in my life ever heard a democrat say "We taxed the hardworking too much and spent too much on welfare." Or "Gun control just doesn't work. We need to make it easier for people to get guns not harder."

No, what they ALWAYS say is "We didn't go far enough." I've heard that more times than I can count. Statist logic being if doing x amount of something produces a bad result, then doing ten times x will somehow NOT make things worse but actually reverse the problem.

Or to put it in another way if you're in a hole and digging it deeper, rather than stop digging and fill in the hole, You should keep digging but dig more and faster - somehow this will get you out of the hole.

They ignore the fact that socialism/statism has NEVER delivered on its promises, not even once. And of course the lazy and the stupid believe them. From the results of the 2012 election 51% of the USA belongs to the Dunning Kruger club.

As others have said, socialism is never about wealth CREATION, it is always about forcible “re-distribution” of what producers have created. The political left is always trying to seize the output of all who produce in order to provide someone’s ideal of benevolent re-distribution.

EVERY country south of our border is a third world sewer run by a small cadre of extremely wealthy families who own ALL the land, banks, military, police and politicians.

The same could be said for most of Asia and Africa.

I follow this story a lot...soon I want to write a post for my blog....I want people to see clearly and with no excuses the travesty and tragedy of communism and socialism.

It’s very sad and pathetic, but the story of a present day nightmare will do more than the many horrendous disasters from the past.

Sanders was no hero, he knows the truth about socialism and still peddled it to people who were too young to know the truth of it.

The brand of socialism he ‘practices’ is one he created just for himself.

There’s no such thing as large eggs anymore. No matter what the carton says, they’re all small and verging on teeny tiny.

Take that $150 and buy some laying hens and start a garden.

That's only if yopu believe the official exchange rate. If you pay with U.S. dollars on the black market, it's actually about 1% of that amount.
