Richard Haass is the quintessential member of the foreign policy establishment. Long-time President of the Council on Foreign Relations, Haass has served in Republican and Democrat administrations and advised candidates from both parties. In this election, he has been very critical of Donald Trump.
So no taint of partisanship can be applied to the normally mild-mannered Haass scathing comments on todays Morning Joe about President Obamas UN speech of yesterday. After calling the speech a major disappointment, Haass unleashed the unkindest cut, saying of Obamas detached attitude to the crises of the day this is not the faculty lounge. Ouch.

Council on Foreign Relations president, as well as Gen. Michael Hayden and Scarborough, tear Obama’s UN speech to shreds.
Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.
And that IDIOT Michael Hayden said it was an ELEGANT SPEECH.....Haass almost had a heart attack!
Obama was in full bluster. He is nothing more than an agitating community organizer and never will be. I wish I knew the sound man and could have had obama’s reverb switched off in mid bloviation. For those who don’t know, it would have instantly made him sound very, very small and would shut down any enthusiasm. There is so much audio trickery used to make him sound larger than life. It’s all been a sham.
It was a very anti-COTUS, anti-Christian, anti-sovereignty and anti-American speech.
Hussein is a UN butt-kissing, One World Order under Islam pushing, queerish, low IQ Community Organizer in Chief.
Never was my President: Undocumented, fraudulently nominated, fraudulently elected, Oath broken repeatedly, unConstitutional actions.
obama is never going away..i just know it.
Clearly both of the interviewees would prefer a more activist position in Syria, which appears to me to have been very inadequately analyzed within even the CFR to the point of a received truth. At the very least our policy in the area ought to be informed by Hippocrates' "First, do no harm." I think they would agree with me that in practice, our floundering, vacillating actions in the region have done more harm than good.
I do agree with the faculty lounge formulation, however. The notion of a post-American world is a work of lofty theory little affected by the reality that America really isn't going anywhere, and that a diminution of its activism isn't the same thing as its disappearance. This is, to be sure, a post-Soviet world, but it doesn't look much like Russia has gone anywhere, does it? It is very difficult to break through the nearly impenetrable wall of abstraction necessary to draw any broad historical conclusions when we're right in the middle of the mix. Ignoring it won't make it go away, and constructing foreign policy based on that level of abstraction is demonstrably disastrous. Professors should profess, leaders should lead. 0bama is a complainer who is complaining. By next February he will have joined Jimmy Carter in that function and he, and we, will all be better off.
Schedule him to testify against Clinton.
I for one think Obama nailed this speech. Everything he said he wanted to do for eight years was presented in an intelligent way. He hit all the key talking points and even threw in a couple to help seal his future as a key figure in the UN, probably UN President from Kenya.
I give Obama a lot of credit. His goal was to destroy America, marginalize the legislative and judicial branch of government, diminish the importance of our Constitution, further ingrain corruption between kstreet and wall street, destroy most of our decades old alliances, promote decadence and racial divide while hamstringing police departments throughout the country. enabled millions of illegal aliens to cross our borders and take all of our resources harming Americans everywhere, eradicating the best health care system on the planet and ruining our energy industry.
And to think, none of this would have happened if the words, “you mean your Christian faith” were never uttered. Everyone knew what Obama was going to do, just like we know exactly what Hillary Clinton will do. The media is to blame and they must be held accountable. For us to save our country, we must destroy the msm.
Hayden is a damn fool, trying to justify his nevertrumpism and fellow traveling with Hillary. Can the man, without notes or Internet, give us one memorable line uttered by Barry in the last eight years? No one can. Because there isn’t one.
