I don’t believe this one in several billion explanation. It’s never happened before or since. They had no basis other than pure supposition for the “official version”, yet more than three dozen eye witnesses say they saw a rocket-like object rise up to the plane.
But that’s OK, you can accept the cock and bull story if it makes you happy.

Actually it had happened at least twice before. In 2001 a Thai 737-400 exploded on the ramp at the Bangkok airport. Five years earlier a Philippine Airlines 737 also had a center fuel tank explode, fortunately while it too was on the ground.
