I wonder how many of the paid informants are friends, relatives & loved ones of the DEA agents?

I suspect that a lot of those informants continue to sell drugs with the knowledge and approval of the DEA. Maybe it is like owning a franchise to sell dope, with the requirement that you occasionally turn over one of your mid level vendors to the Feds.

I did the math. That’s only $13,166 over a 5-year period or $2,633 per year per informant. Sorry folks, it’s just not that exorbitant.

That doesn’t seem like a tremendous amount of money over 5 years. Not like, say, $650 million for a nonfunctioning healthcare website. Or, $575 MM for a nonfunctioning solar plant in Fremont CA or any of the other dozen or so solar cos the admin has chosen to dump money into. Besides, much of that money may well have come from (justifiable) cash seizures.

They did such good job, though. Heroin has practically disappeared, ODs are down and the demand for illegal drugs is a fraction of what it once was.

Good work, boys! /s

$2633.33 per informant per year.
Might be a good investment depending on how much property the DEA was able to steal, uh, confiscate based on their tips.
