For anyone interested in a very reasonable dissertation on the subject of an Article V convention here’s a great speech from very conservative Hillsdale College:

Thank you for sharing this with us.
I am against an Article V Convention for many of the reasons layed out in this very informative presentation.
America’s root cause for systemic corruption and disregard for rule of law is not a flaw in our Constitution, but rather a flaw in our collective values, morality and lack of civic responsibility.
JBS has been right all along.
The Communists have achieved their goals.
We are rotted within.

For those of us who can’t sit through a 58 minute video, could you summarize the points made?

Because they don’t say that 13 states can veto any “runaway convention” crap...

Hell, the house/senate on capital hill can propose all sorts of CRAZY constitutional amendments and THEY ALREADY HAVE, MANY TIMES, but they are never ratified and become dead letters....

The JBS argument is so ignorant on WHAT Article V really means.

Article V only means that States can only PROPOSE new amendments, JUST LIKE THE HOUSE AND SENATE CAN....

Any and all RATIFICATION occurs LIEK IT ALWAYS HAS...

Damned fools! They are trying to convince us the states have no power and only the senate and house can propose new amendments...

It is like shooting your own foot because your shoes don’t fit....

The house and senate proposed all these crazy things....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_proposed_amendments_to_the_United_States_Constitution

Why can’t the states, if they are bad they will become “Dead Letters” just like all these....

13 states can say HELL NO to ANYTHING proposed and it becomes a dead letter.... 13 states... That is about 1/2 the “Solid Red states”... If we lost them, it is already over...

This Anti-Article V crap is just paranoid fear mongering by the JBS.

JBS DOES address this.

"Article V only means that States can only PROPOSE new amendments, JUST LIKE THE HOUSE AND SENATE CAN...."

You confuse "The House and Senate" determinations to and with an Article 5 Convention.

IF an Article 5 Convention is called, all your anger and arguments are meaningless ...

imo.

THAT'S why I am listening ... and why I posted it.

If the house and senate got together to propose a new amendment that would turn the United States into an Monarchy Empire by making all previous amendments and even the Constitution null and void establishing a bloodline monarchy....

All it would take is 13 states to say HELL NO and it would be a DEAD LETTER.

Article V was put in as almost an afterthought but by unanimous vote when its necessity was realized by the constitution writers. It is the last resort of the states to assert their rights against a runaway federal government. We are in exactly the position they envisioned when article V was put in the Constitution. Now is the time to use this constitutional provision to save the republic.

I am just so sick and tired of all the baseless fear mongering about an Article V CoS to propose amendments being misconstrued as an “Open everything up Con-Con” and having to explain it over and over again to all the scared spooked paranoid wildebeests out there who fail to realize that it is a valid check on federal power that the states themselves can use, that the founders specifically put in there for such an occasion.

Also, sometimes the scared pants wetting wildebeests have to chased over the cliff like the lemmings they are so they can hit rock bottom and realize how damned foolish and skittish they have been all this time.

I appreciate your concern, but ..

" ... it is a valid check on federal power that the states themselves can use, that the founders specifically put in there for such an occasion." ...

Is just that ... it CAN, but doesn't necessarily DO anything.

Just as we have problems with American humanity (all areas political, social, religious, etc,) ... Those same people would be controlling or responding to an Article 5 Convention.

I'm researching a problem I have in my local school (I'm on the board) and I discovered that in Article 5, sect 8, at the very end is what is refered to as the proper and necessary clause ..

"To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof."

Meaning ... well, just what it means

it is also demarcated using the word "Department", which (in my research) COULD mean Department of Education.

Now, If my research so far CAN lead me to Constitutional violations (BY the school) using the public school system, I may have grounds to overturn some recent policy changes they made eliminating school board input and oversight ... which ... at this point ... gives WAY too much power to the administration to hire teachers.
