Hurricane Matthew is barreling towards Florida, and left-leaning bloggers and scientists have already blamed the storm’s ferocity on, you guessed it, global warming.

“Matthew has already set a number of records — and global warming is giving it a boost,” Joe Romm, ThinkProgress’ climate editor, wrote.

“Hurricane Matthew, a record-shattering storm that is unusual for October, is a reminder of climate change’s potential to turn seasonal weather events into extreme, year-round threats,” echoed Huffington Post reporter Lydia O’Connor.

It’s religion. I met someone today who claimed that the Hurricane in Florida and “beach erosion” on Cape Cod are due to global warming. [Sigh]

I told her for my entire lifetime there have been Hurricanes in September/October and beach erosion affecting all East Coast beaches. What’s changed? No good response.

It’s a totalitarian religion not unlike Islam’s Sharia. The only difference is that they use the phony auspices of science to force acceptance and adherence rather than decapitations.

I think on some levels they know they cannot redirect the climate of the planet, but like everything with liberalism, it’s all about intentions and gesturism and never results. And, holding them accountable with tangible things is hard enough. Can you imagine ever trying to justify climate tends vis-a-vis a carbon tax? Temps go up, “We’re not doing enough - MOAR TAXES”. Temps go down, “It’s working! Stay the course and redouble our taxes/efforts!”
