If Donald looks like he sometimes “gets away with murder” this is — as I read it — the reason why. Donald is still in the process of blooming, and the later Donald will be superior to the earlier Donald.
I love how CS Lewis describes this process in Mere Christianity. He says that once a sinner accepts Jesus as his savior, God takes joy in watching him taking his first baby steps.
The newly saved person will still stumble, but God looks upon those stumbles as a proud parent would while watching his child taking clumsy first steps.
