Authorities called the death of Los Angeles County sheriffs Sgt. Steve Owen a calculated execution.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell described the death in detail.
Sgt. Owen approached the suspect in response to a burglary call, McDonnell said as large photos of Owen were behind him. The suspect immediately shot Sgt. Owen. He then stood over and executed Sgt. Owen by firing four additional rounds in his body.
Before the news conference began at 4 p.m., authorities identified the man accused of killing Owen as Trenton Trevon Lovell, of Lancaster.
Owen was shot and killed Wednesday after he responded to a call at an apartment complex at West Avenue J7, near Antelope Valley College, authorities said.
Lovell, a parolee and burglary suspect, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, and was being held without bail, according to the Sheriffs Department.
Before Owen, 53, was shot, he and Lovell were alone, authorities said.
The suspect may have been able to draw a weapon the way his body was positioned without the sergeant being able to see it, McDonnell said.
McDonnell said after Owen was shot, Lovell then unsuccessfully searched his body to look for his weapon with the intent to use it to murder the first responding deputy. The first responding deputy, McDonnell said, shot numerous times at Lovell and hit him once in the shoulder.
Lovell, described by McDonnell as a parolee, was able to escape to a neighboring house where he held two teenagers hostage until Special Enforcement Bureau officers rescued them and he was arrested.
Owen, who worked 29 years in the Sheriffs Department, was a role model in the department, McDonnell said.
Owens co-workers and members of the community honored him at the Lancaster station where he worked.
Antelope Valley College criminal justice major Gerard Rivers, 23, of Lancaster, said Owen helped influenced his decision to choose law enforcement as a career.
He was one of the guys I knew for a fact supported everybody ... there was no kind of racial bias, Rivers said. He stood up for minority groups. He always listened to people. Thats what people need to understand he was one of the heroes, the good guys.
“Trenton Trevon Lovell” do I need to say more? See:

This should be a yawner for the MSM
(And yes, there is a bit of sarcasm in this post. I'm so tired of this crap.)

Hard to find a picture of the suspect. Why? Well obviously because he’s a black guy. Obama has made blacks feel empowered to randomly and wantonly kill. The Leftist media helps in that effort. Obama and the Leftsit media have done the blacks and the black community no favors.
no death penaly— now you have to feed this murdering bastard and give him a sex change— IDIOTS!!
Blood is on the Terrorist in Chief’s hands.
If Barrack Obama had a son.......
“If Barrack Obama had a son.......” one cop would be far too small a score.
“...and he was arrested.”
I think I see the problem right there.
I seriously don’t know how the perp survived to be arrested.

Calculated execution?
My thought exactly when the story first broke.
Has the person who called 911 been arrested?
That person was in on it, IMO. Called the officer to an ambush.
A BLM operation. There will be many more.
