“you are an insecure, poor little baby, who needs others to reinforce your opinions and lack of accomplishments.”

Does the word “projection” come to anyone else’s mind on that one?

At any rate, think “decaf” - there are probably things in life to feel angry and bitter over, but I’m pretty sure this ain’t one of ‘em.

They screwed up the words, mangled the correct ones, and their harmony STINKS ON ICE! Thanks for NOTHING, for posting this.

Perhaps you'd like this Norwegian rendition, sung by Sissel Kyrkjebø:

Thanks for the info. I suppose diff people go at it in diff ways. I’m used to a typical studio order with a click\drum being the first track laid down.

I’d seen the site before and it looked interesting - are there any charges involved in using it’s services?

Speaking of CCR, I could never figure why, playing with a group, we could never get the “CCR sound” on “Proud Mary”. The I found out Fogerty tunes his guitar a step down to D instead of E. Whole diff sound using the E position instead of the traditional tuning D-chord.

There are a lot of technically proficient, nice version of this out there. The Irish Tenors or Peter Hollens, either one of those especially. But, it seems as if people get carried away, even a cappella. Also, there’s a sadness and a yearning there that people don’t seem to grasp anymore. Tennessee Ernie Ford did. Maybe you have to be from Ol’ Virginny or at least a southerner to feel the heartsick in the lyrics.

Beautiful!

I never heard a bad version of Shenandoah yet. Favorite is by John McDermott:

and Tennessee Ernie Ford can make your topsails shiver with it:

When I hear him sing “Where You There?” it really does make me “tremble”. Amazing man and voice.

McDermott’s pretty good. And God rest TE Ford’s pea-pickin soul, what a voice.

This is pretty old school (1920s) but there’s also a good amount of sadness & yearning in these fellas.

Collaboration is free. Paid users get access to panning and effects, and no nagvertisements.

>>I found out Fogerty tunes his guitar a step down

Heh. Same sort of thing trying to play Jackson Brown for years - then I saw a concert DVD and figured out why. He has a huge rack of guitars on stage and when he gets a request for a certain song, he grabs the guitar tuned for that song.

Duh.

He also makes extensive use of the transposition feature on the faux baby grand piano (it’s a digital with speakers built into the deck) he uses on stage. He just basically transposes everything to play with the fingering of C. Calls it his “piano capo”. Clever.

I like this rendition of Shenandoah:

No words required - other than maybe So What. ;-)

I think maybe you’re just envious because they’re not in the same tonnage class as you.

That’s a great smooth jazz improv of Shenandoah.

You reminded me of Roger McGuinn telling about how he didn’t know how George Harrison got a certain guitar sound until he saw Harrison was playing a 12 string, after that the 12 string Rickenbacker became McGuinn’s trademark.

Transposing usually comes easy to me, but it takes a little thinkin’ along the lines of “A is E” as “E is to B”. Piano capo sounds pretty nifty, good musicians tend to find personal tweaks to simplify something complicated.

Thanks again for the info.

Saw them at an Irish festival a few years back.

It’s nice to see families raising kids like that in today’s world.

"I sang in church choirs from a very young age, was part of Billy Graham's youth choir as a pre-teen, ..."

And this somehow makes you less of an ass?

Suck it up ... the Hanson Sisters sang this beautifully and it lifted my day.
