James Cartwright, formerly vice chairman to Joint Chiefs of Staff, was accused of lying to investigators

A retired top US general pleaded guilty on Monday to making a false statement during an FBI probe into a classified intelligence leak about a cyber attack against Iran's nuclear programme in 2010.

Marine Corps General James Cartwright, 67, formerly the vice chairman to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was accused of lying to investigators when he said he had not confirmed classified information to New York Times journalist David Sanger.

Sanger wrote a book describing a joint US and Israeli operation that deployed a virus called "Stuxnet" that reportedly destroyed or damaged centrifuges being used by Iran to enrich uranium in 2010.

The malicious code reportedly dealt Iran's disputed nuclear programme a serious blow.

The man told one lie or two to the FBI and the article states theoretically, he could face up to 5 years in prison? Heck, he should be running for President, laws are for little people. (sarcasm off)

Because when she does, she'll be joined by the entire obama administration and the form bj clinton administration.

Between the two, there must be 500 serious felons and a thousand lesser criminals.

Lying to the FBI? — “Everyone does it.”

Go to prison for it? — “Well, not everyone does that.”

The sultan of the white hut will give her (and himself ) blanket pardons at the end of his 8 year travesty.

Look at Martha Stewart. (Poor dopey lib)

If the FBI were to question me.....even if I was not the subject of the investigation, I would tell them to talk to my lawyer as I wouldn’t know if something might be construed as lying.

He talked to the New York Times?

Bad judgement at best, treason at worst

His mistake was copping to the lie. Just say “I don’t recall”.

The purpose of revealing “Stuxnet” and other U.S. covert actions against Iran was to bolster Barack Obama’s image as a “warrior.” Around the same time the White House revealed that Obama personally chose the human targets of drone strikes. And that he carried with him a book containing photos and bios of potential terrorist targets. Obviously Cartwright was acting on behalf of the White House.

This is a win for the good side. Cartwright was a POS in Omaha with little concern for deterrence.

Why didn’t he just tell them it was a mistake, he didn’t realize it was classified, he didn’t do it on purpose, and if he had it to do over again, he would have done things differently? It worked for Hillary.

Soooo, why is this coming out now? Are there (lower ranking) folks in the FBI trying to make a point here? Are they doing this to embarass the administration or has the general pissed someone off recently? He must not be a friend of Bill.

Also curious about the “quid pro quo” documents coming out of the FBI. Kennedy has been a POS for years.

This must’ve been back in the days when the FBI put people under oath when they questioned them, not just invited them for little casual, voluntary conversations...
