Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a prominent Donald Trump supporter, is 15 points behind his Democratic opponent, Paul Penzone, according to a new poll.
Penzone leads Arpaio 46 percent to 31 percent in the Arizona Republic/Morrison/Cronkite News survey out Thursday.
ADVERTISEMENT Arpaio, 84, has become a national figure over his hard-line views on illegal immigration and repeated clashes with the federal government. He is seeking his seventh term as sheriff of Arizona’s largest county.
Reports emerged last week the Department of Justice plans on charging Arpaio with criminal contempt after he and his deputies allegedly ignored court orders to halt racial profiling following a case over immigration policy.
Thursday’s results reflect Arizona’s new status as a battleground state after years of reliably going red.
Another Arizona Republic/Morison/Cronkite News poll out Wednesday found Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton 5 points ahead of her Republican rival in a state Democrats haven't carried in a presidential election in 20 years.
Thursday’s edition, meanwhile, found low support in Maricopa County for positions Arpaio and Trump share.

The fix must really be in in Arizona. Pretending Hillary is up and now promoting Paul Penzone over Arpaio? I have read that a Soros connected company owns the voting machines in Arizona. It is either that, or the record number of illegals flooding into AZ and being registered by the Dems. If those two things are not the case, they are flat out lying.
Did they poll anyone other than illegal immigrants and convicts?

The local media is down on Arpaio and Trump.
Extremely likely, what folks haven’t come to grips with is the fact that the electoral map outlays have dramatically changed over the decades and are now on the shift to blue in swing states once heavily Lock tight Red.
This has been done through illegal and legal immigration, handouts, etc.
I think when people truly look at demographic make up changes major city by major city over the years the shift is blatantly obvious. You don’t need voter fraud enmasse when the people now making up the voting demographic in large part are immigrants

Had to happen eventually. Apraio has had a very interesting run of winning elections while everybody hates him. At some point that had to end.
Agree. But I am fairly worried about the voting machines. I saw a video that showed people feeding ‘8 no and 2 yes’ votes into a Diebold machine that then spit out a ‘7 yes and 3 no’ result. The card in the machine had been hacked.
It seems to me that at age 84, he should’ve hand-picked his successor by now.
That’s what’s gonna happen if Hillary gets it her way.
