NEVER heard of it bro.
Something this big I would not forget.
Spent brass. Incredible.
You’re talking insurrection!! War, even. I wouldn’t forget that Americans used guns in the 20th century to stop fraud!!
It’s a fantastic story, and I mean fantastic in both ways. Fantastic as in great and fantastic is in almost hard to believe.
But it happened!
WTH went on in this country??!?!
National Guard with machine guns deciding who came and went from the colony?
Women and children killed?
Then again, there was that mess under Clinton where a bunch of people were killed.
We’re always one step away from tyranny, it seems.
I just did.
History don’’t repeat itself, but it sure do rhyme... mark twain
The Bundys come to mind.
If Athens happened today, the FBI and BATF&E would have swooped in like an army to force the surrender of those veterans who took control of the ballot boxes.
They would have been branded "Domestic Terrorists" and those who were stuffing the ballot boxes would have been patted on the back, "You poor dears" and sent on their way - probably with the ballot boxes under their arms.
So now we know why nobody knows about it. A black man roughed up by a dem is too close to reality and actual history for their comfort.
Reagan said it. Every generation.
I’m proud to say that I live in Athens TN and it’s a wonderful conservative small town. That’s why when I say there are Trump signs popping up all over the place you can believe it! :-)
This wonderful area of our country, Athens and huge swaths of the Appalachian is still inhabited by God fearing, hard working, 2nd Amendment minded folks who WILL defend hearth and home and their freedom.
I love this area.....I’m proudly from this area.
Thanks for posting that excellent article.
Very interesting how the press handled the story trying to minimize the vets accomplishment. Incidental myass...
Today it appears that this political coalition of World War II veterans for direct action in community affairs, which many at the time regarded as a factor likely to develop nationally in the postwar period, was purely [a] local phenomenon in which veteran participation was incidental.
Every time we pass through I remind my wife, “This is where it was.”
You should check the Twin Peaks threads. It never ends.
It’s a great little town and it’s located close enough to the larger cities (Knoxville, Chattanooga, Cleveland) that people have access to a lot of good jobs but can still live in a small town. It’s also close to the Great Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Cherokee N.C., the Blue Ridge mountains, and other wonderful places. As far as I’m concerned there isn’t a better or more beautiful place to live.
And they have a Dunkin Donuts right off the Interstate. On oasis in a carbohydrate and caffeine desert!
LOL, yes, we finally got a small Dunkin Donuts. Since I took almost a year to lose 50 pounds I don’t go there much anymore but I LOVE their donuts.
We stop there going and returning from seeing the grand kids.
As I have a large amount of family spread out all over East TN, I am pretty sure that I remember my Grandfather talking about someone in the family being present at Athens.
My prayers are for this great nation, in this time of great peril. Will we have the moral will and authority to prevail against the evil satan that walks the land.
I have great regard for those have gone before that stood up against satan’s minions.
My prayer is that freedom loving citizens will see, vote and fight for the right to remain free.
Seriously times that we are experiencing.
I thank your ancestors that have the fortitude to stand against tyranny
Good post. Thank you sir. I think if my ancestors saw the current generation they would wonder why we put up with so much BS.
