I could have added that, based on decades of living in Canada’s Arctic, even the slightest possibility of global cooling worries me a lot more than global warming. A whole lot more. Alaskans know what I’m talking about.
Just a smidgen of global cooling could cause global famines — to say nothing of a refugee crisis that would have Europeans looking back wistfully at today’s situation. A bit of warming would increase crop yields, and make it easier to keep warm.
“Thats both a foregone conclusion, and less-than-convincing.”
Lol, no argument there! A little Argumentum ad vericundiam on my part!
“Its (probably) true that it wasnt getting warmer, until 1870 (excepting the Little Ice Age) but, its also quite possible that it was warmer than it would have been without agriculture. We simply dont have a counter-factual for comparison. (Although, it would be very easy to create a computer model to prove it.)”
Somewhat true. Many scientists say: there wasn’t enough co2 in the atmosphere until 1950 to cause any global warming. (Which is funny because the Earth cooled from 1945-1975.)
And going by the accepted science (which means: Warmist “science”), warming started at the end of the LIA which was before the Industrial Revolution. So many holes in what “most climate scientists say...”
In any case there is an accepted explanation for NH warming for RWP, MWP and the current warming period: they’re Bond/Dansgaard-Oeschger events:
Re circulation of SH heat to the NH every 1350 years +-500 years.
“Just a smidgen of global cooling could cause global famines to say nothing of a refugee crisis that would have Europeans looking back wistfully at todays situation. A bit of warming would increase crop yields, and make it easier to keep warm.”
Right. History shows civilizations rise and thrive with global warming, and fall with global cooling.
