California did something similar years ago. They wanted to ban large capacity rifles, including lever action rifles so they proposed a new act that was so unpopular it was shelved.
We knew what was coming!
California then released a mental case who proceeded to LEGALLY buy a handgun in California, an AK-47-s in Oregon, then shot up the Stockton school yard, then shot himself.
The proposed law was pulled out, lever action rifles removed from it, and rushed through the California legislature so fast it made heads swim, and quickly signed into law.
