I remember with some sadness back when Rush Limbaugh was suffering with Oxycontin and in rehab, he explained, that he was told that drug addiction was easy compared to pornography addiction.
He said they taught how the brain becomes grooved in some part(s), and that while drug addiction does cause these grooves that at least with successful treatment, that over time they will heal and fill in.
Not so with pornography. The grooves are very deep and do not heal completely. Something about the visual tracks are just always there. That is a very sad commentary for the future of a pornography addict, if that still holds true.
There are surely advances since back when Rush was in treatment. I certainly hope that there is more hope available today for the porn addict.
I bring this up because with Anthony Weiner in the news, I wonder about the prognosis for a sex addict like him ever recovering entirely. How awful if such a curse should never be lifted.
I hope that they can help him, but I doubt it happens in only 30 days. It seems to be a progressive disorder and we are not sure if he had moved on to the live encounters with girls. Certainly, Weiner was moving in that direction with skype encounters with this girl.
He was obsessed with her and he is obsessed with sex and his maleness. He has been this way for a long time. Needs a long term cure.
Weiner got caught. There are thousands, or tens of thousands of men who don’t get caught.
The FBI has that laptop, and I bet there are dirty photos of underage people on it.
This is part of a legal defense strategy. See, it's not really his fault. He was compelled to seek out those photographs because of his "addiction."
Not to mention, having him sealed off in a secluded, no-phone zone doesn't do the Clintons any harm.
I do not remember Rush talking about porn addiction. Maybe I only got the PG version of his show back then.
