From One #NeverTrump to Another
American Thinker ^ | November 8, 2016 | Tom Trinko

Posted on 11/08/2016 10:04:51 AM PST by Kaslin

I was a proud #NeverTrump person during the primaries because there were several far better candidates. Candidates who didn’t have sordid personal lives, who didn’t lie about their opponents, who didn’t change their position on issues every few days, and who weren’t recently hardcore liberals.

But now is different than then.

Contrary to what some sophists say the election is a binary event; either Hillary or Trump will become the next president. Anyone who denies that is living in fantasyland.

Hence the question is no longer “Is Trump the sort of man we want to be president?” but instead the question is “Who worse for the country; Hillary or Trump?”

A key related question is, can the country survive a Hillary presidency? If it’s possible, or likely, that she will effect such significant changes that no future conservative can ever hope to win the presidency, then those #NeverTrump folks who are saying that Trump will destroy the conservative brand are doing the equivalent of rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

We know that Hillary has no respect for the law or the Constitution; she’s essentially a fascist, and that her Supreme Court judges will be hardcore left-wing activists like the “Notorious RBG”.

Given that we can’t count on a Republican Congress to stop her, a rational observer would have to conclude that by the end of Hillary’s first term that either illegals will have been given the vote or that a corrupt DOJ would look the other way when illegals illegally vote.

Thomas Jefferson, that great Author of the Declaration of Independence and President of the United States provided us with an indisputable reason for rejecting a Hillary presidency:
"I am not among those who fear the people. They...are our dependence for continued freedom. And to preserve their independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts, as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our callings and our creeds...our people...must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give the earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses; and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live, as they (the British) now do, on oatmeal and potatoes; have no time to think, no means of calling the mismanagers to account; but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers....This example reads to us the salutary lesson that private fortunes are destroyed by public, as well as by private extravagance. And this is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from the principle in one instance, becomes a precedent for a second; that second for a third; and so on, till the bulk of society is reduced to be mere automatons of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering. Then begins, indeed, the 'bellum omnium in omnia,' which some philosophers...have mistaken for the natural, instead of the abusive, state of man. And the fore-horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression." - Thomas Jefferson

I proudly, and unhesitatingly cast my ballot this morning for Donald J Trump here in Minnesota. For the very first time I voted FOR someone and not just AGAINST someone.

Tom and the 'nevertrumpers' should have come out with this stuff a month ago... how charming they would wait until they knew the wind was blowing in our direction...

Trump will be the next president.

In order of those who deserve payback:

1. Media

2. #NeverTrump

3. GOP establishment

4. Illegal/unethical actions by anyone

I don’t include the democrat party as a group deserving payback, because they would simply be doing what an opposition group does.

However, that’s where the illegal/unethical actors enter the picture. Whichever side, those folks deserve a well-placed kick or two.

Trinko writes out of the nether region of his digestive tract.

The choice is and was always very clear. As a Republican , one is either a patriot or an elitist traitor.

The Republican party has now changed, hopefully forever.

No more elitism, let the Republican party be shaped by its roots, by self made businessmen who do not depend on intergenerational accumulation of wealth.

Trump is exactly the kind of president I want. He meets issues head on, and is not a subscriber to an unlawful rule justified by ever fluctuating political correctness. He will return us to being a nation of laws, and he will make it difficult for anything to take us away from that in the future.

Most Cruz and Walker supporters can appreciate that Trump has all the right enemies, that he’s no metrosexual, that he favors’ gun rights and a strong military, and that he will nominate decent judges.

Pretty sophomoric bit of writing. I really couldn’t get passed the first or second paragraph without being too distracted by the fallacious premiss he’s trying to build.

That is an understatement. But anyone with the capacity for independent thinking and an ounce of common sense should be able to figure the importance of this election. The only holdouts are people like the Bushes whose butt hurt and now very questionable concern for the future of the country. I think that we are going to be seeing the vast majority of the "nevertrumpers" actually voting for Trump.

I was a proud #NeverTrump person during the primaries because:

I was too self-satisfied to do any personal research.

I bought every GOPe lie. I have lied so often myself that I don’t even notice lies and inconsistencies anymore.

I enjoy being a loudmouth and braying “look at me..look at me” so much that I can’t be bothered to look at the people suffering around me and at the decay of Freedom and Justice in America.

My mind has gotten ossified and its easier to just believe what I’m told by Mark Levin/Glenn Beck/and the MSM.

Being stubborn about something makes me feel powerful.

Thank you SO MUCH for responding to this #nevertrumper so well... succinctly and articulatly. I get a big fat kick out of all these people who clearly know nothing about him, think that he changed his views all the time. They obviously never took the time to look back at interview after interview after interview throughout his “public career” if you will, and said basically the same things all along! A sordid past... why?...because he had a couple of divorces? Even his Ex-Wives back him! He is a good man. He has done wonderful things which he keeps under wraps because as any good hearted person knows - a Christian does good works and doesn’t then boast about them. I am a proud supporter of Donald J Trump and have been since the 80’s. Especially happy since the day he came down the escalator and announced his candidacy. There is no better person to lead this country out of the demise and debacle that Obama, Hillary and thwir cronies have made out of our fabulous land. God Bless America and God bless Donald Trump!!!
