They wore pantsuits to their polling places, emulating the preferred dress of their White House candidate. Some wept with emotion and others remembered their female ancestors as they cast their vote for Democrat Hillary Clinton. But rather than witness the shattering of the ultimate glass ceiling, women across America watched an historic breakthrough slip away as Clinton failed to become the first woman elected president of the United States. Republican Donald Trump, who had waged a heated campaign painting the former secretary of state as "crooked" and threatening to put her in jail, swept to surprise victory on an anti-establishment platform. See the heartbreaking photos of Hillary Clinton supporters from last night...

When you see the final numbers, you wath how many women vote for Hillary vs Trump.

Compare it to the men, and you’ll see why they get taken to task.

Absolutely. How many of these same women cried when Sarah Palin did not get elected to the Vice Presidency, with a possible shot at the Presidency later?

Women have ruled countries for centuries. I’m trying to figure out the big deal for the USA.

Lorianne, when we see women vote for a guy like Clinton or Obama, you can forgive us for being very unhappy when they vote for them 60/40, when men vote for them 40/60.

For some reason, women can’t seem to see these men for what they are. I’ll guarantee you, Hillary got the female vote last night.

No, not all women do vote for these people, but women are the ones who elect them. What are we supposed to do, ignore that?

It is so sad that people actually put their hopes in somebody as crooked, criminal and corrupt as Mrs. Clinton. God help them.

I’ll vote for a woman for president when we get someone like Margaret Thatcher running.

There whiny women are probably among those who most vociferously opposed the woman who could have been the first woman VP 8 years ago.

That reminds me that Trump said Sarah would have a position in his administration.

" When asked on Sarah Palin’s Mama Grizz Radio’s “The Palin Update” Monday whether he would
seek the former Alaska governor’s advice as president or potentially appoint her to an executive-
branch position, Trump said, “I’d love that.”

“She’s really somebody who knows what’s happening. She’s a special person. She’s really a special
person. And I think people know that and she’s got a following that’s unbelievable,” he continued.
(Palin has more than 4 million Facebook followers.)

“I’m looking at some of these candidates, they’re weak, they’re ineffective and to a degree that’s
almost hard to believe. And, you know, they like the Sarah Palin kind of strength.
You just don’t see very much of it anymore,” Trump mused. "

I was thinking more along the lines of:

Oh, god! We are so screwed! Now we actually have to be qualified for a job based on genuine education, knowledge, experience, common sense and critical thinking skills. Our vaginas don’t qualify us for sh!t, except for having babies or abortions. I need a hug!

Morons.

No, don’t ignore it, but be aware that it was the SHIFT in the women’s vote that put Bush over the top in 2000 and 2004 and I would not be surprised if, when all the stats come in, that this is not the case for Trump as well.

Kerry lost a significant number of women and so did Romney. So yes, while the overall numbers are important, it is the shifts that can make a difference in a campaign.

And future campaigns should remember that:
1. There are more voting age women than voting age men.
2. More women register to vote than do men.
3. More women show up to the polls and vote than do men.

Those 3 things combined mean that even small shifts in the women’s vote can be crucial.

Because of women's vote, no man with a beard can possibly get elected. Maybe a woman with a beard but not a man.

I’m a woman, I did not wear a pantsuit to vote, dear Lord, I wouldn’t wear a pantsuit to anything. And I am deliriously happy that Trump trounced Hillary.

This morning at our regularly scheduled breakfast at a local restaurant in Massachusetts; I was surprised when the table of 8 women next to us who I have seen there for years had a TRUMP sign on their table that read - "The silent majority for TRUMP."

They were all very happy about TRUMP winning.

This TRUMP victory is a rare celebration for us right wingers living in a State (MASS.)that went for Hillary 60%. -Tom
