They wore pantsuits to their polling places, emulating the preferred dress of their White House candidate. Some wept with emotion and others remembered their female ancestors as they cast their vote for Democrat Hillary Clinton. But rather than witness the shattering of the ultimate glass ceiling, women across America watched an historic breakthrough slip away as Clinton failed to become the first woman elected president of the United States. Republican Donald Trump, who had waged a heated campaign painting the former secretary of state as "crooked" and threatening to put her in jail, swept to surprise victory on an anti-establishment platform. See the heartbreaking photos of Hillary Clinton supporters from last night...

We would not have had Bill Clinton as president if not for the women’s vote.

We would not have had Barack Obama as president if not for the women’s vote.

We should not have had George Bush, if not for the women’s vote.

I rest my case. In the instance of Bush, he would not have been our nominee if not for the women’s vote.

We would have had a sound candidate instead. We would not have had eight years of terrible leadership, and a melt down that nearly turned our nation flat on it’s back.

As you were saying?

Politically speaking, “We came, we saw, she died”

It’s disgusting so many are dumping on women. There are hundreds of women right here on FR who have never supported the witch.

Don't take it personally! No one here is besmirching women in general. They are just stating "women who only vote with their lady parts" without the last seven words because it is just assumed. Just like us Conservative men have grown tired of women always saying that we only think with our dangly parts!

I’ll vote for a woman for president when we get someone like Margaret Thatcher running.

Exactly! Just like blacks should have NEVER voted for an unaccomplished, empty suit with no resume Muslim to be the first black President! They got EXACTLY what they voted for!

Killary deserves only one "FIRST:" To be the first former Secretary of State to be charged with TREASON (among other charges!) and sent to the federal pokey!

Who would be a more appropriate "first female president of the United States?" Condi Rice? Sarah Palin? Nicki Haley?

How about Melania Trump in 8 years

Melania wasn’t born here so could never be POTUS.

I think you missed what I was saying.

Women are the largest voting block out. Period.
To discount how influential even small SHIFTS in that block are is disastrous. Hopefully conservative campaigns in the future will not be so blind. It’s important.

Just as insulting conservatives was not a good campaign strategy for Democrats (it backfired), insulting women as a whole is a disastrous campaign strategy for conservatives going forward. Even if you do not win all the women’s votes, you can steadily shift the PERCENTAGE and that will have far greater effects.

This is math.

I don’t think her mom was legal at her birth. I could be wrong on that, but i think that’s what I heard.

Melania would be good to look at, but unfortunately she was born in another country and is not qualified to run for POTUS.

I lay out the facts for you and your only response is to brag about the size of the voting block. It never occurs to you the damage that voting block has done to our nation.

You demonstrate just how pervasive the problem is, by your refusal to accept what has taken place. Instead you move the ball in the direction of not offending women as a block.

Tell me, what might that group do if not catered to, vote in someone like Obama? Been there. Done that!

LOL. There are none so blind as those who will not see.

“Women didn’t back Hillary - Although last night’s exit polls do show that 54 per cent of women backed Clinton compared to 42 per cent for Trump, these numbers were not significantly different from how women voted in 2012.”

IOW, if 6% had gone with Trump, it would have been even steven. Six percent.

They favored Clinton by 12%. Yes, the swing is half that plus one, but it was still 12%. That is a great big deal when we’re trying to win states.

It would be interesting to study this, find out how many states last night were lost due to the female vote.

That would certainly open some eyes.

It’s a problem. I don’t know how we address it, but 12% were more willing to vote in a crime figure than a guy that was simply rude. That is not clear logical thinking.

They’re not the only ones, but they are a problem, and there’s no denying it.
